Welcome to my corner, Karl.
I met Ms. Le Guin once, at a small literary convention in Sunnyvale. I was able to tell her how her books got me through the period when my folks got divorced. She heard me, and took my hand.
I got so much more than some other people did. But goddammit, this really, really hurts.
Aw, Karl.
I never met her, but my sister corresponded with her about her translation of the I Ching and she seemed like a lovely person from that little exposure. Love so many of her books, of course.
I saw her speak once, in 1990 or so, and had her sign something, and she was so great.
I have a copy of Always Coming Home somewhere around here...
Heard back from the Principal:

Hello David,
I have reached out to the legal department and am awaiting a response. In the meantime, I met with Mr. [bad guy] and Ms. {___} Asst. Principal and we have blocked Mr. [bad guy] from subbing at the school and any duties related to athletics. We also spoke with Mr. [regular teacher who co-signed letter] and directed him to have no further involvement with the organization.
I will follow up when I hear from the legal department.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention!
Respectfully,
[Principal]
I didn't know she'd translated the I Ching. I should find a copy.
That's a heartening response, David. Glad they're taking this seriously.
Sorry, not the I Ching, Tao Te Ching I get those confused.
Way to go, Hec.
Outstanding, David. How's Matilda?
How's Matilda?
She's fine. Didn't want to talk about it though.
