Wesley: I stabbed you. I should apologize for that. But I'm honestly not sure how. I think it'll just be awkward. Gunn: Good call. Wesley: Okay.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I didn't know she'd translated the I Ching. I should find a copy.

That's a heartening response, David. Glad they're taking this seriously.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Sorry, not the I Ching, Tao Te Ching I get those confused.

Way to go, Hec.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Outstanding, David. How's Matilda?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

How's Matilda?

She's fine. Didn't want to talk about it though.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

does anyone have a paid ancestry account OR any library type folk who can do record searches I cannot want to help with a investigation my trainer is working on into her boyfriend's mother!!

scandal!

intrigue!

craziness!

Background is this woman raised her son with no knowledge of his father or any other family and this guy has never looked into it, but is now realizing his mom is actively lying to him about stuff and so the girlfriend is looking into things to see if she can get info for him.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

My heart goes out to Matilda and her conflicted feelings. Sometimes doing the right thing is hard. And good for you David, so glad that the school is responding decisively.

And yes Jessica, I have a high school student. I haven't fully realized the implications yet.

No, seriously, they love that shit. It "proves" to them that they're doing THE LORD's will. Because the original followers of Jesus were persecuted, see, so if modern "Christians" are persecuted, it's the same thing!

I listened to a number of spiritual warfare sermons back when I used to be a church-going atheist. I can see the appeal. I think it really makes you feel part of something and even a little heroic when you need to ban together to fight the foes all around you, imagined or real. That's powerful stuff. Not that it's just a religious thing. I'm sure there are lots of Infowar devotees who get juiced on the same sort of stuff.

Well done on taking on that stuff, DavidS. It sounds like some real nasty preying on children going on there. Yikes.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Glad to hear the school officials were all "He did what? Inappropriate!" rather than circling the wagons around him (like they probably would have in my school district).

In other news I made Bear Creek chili tonight, and perhaps overshot the mark a bit on pepper and garlic. I may mix it with pasta shells to cut the spice down a bit if it doesn't mellow in the refrigerator. Also, the people who made the package label are delusional (or Lilliputians) if they think someone can get 8 reasonable serving sizes out of one of these pots of chili.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Msbelle, I have paid ancestry, but it doesn't let you search anyone in the census last the 1940 one and living people. The city directories to to about The 50s. I can give it a crack because I am also pretty good with the google and library websites, but when I found my father's family, it sort of depended on the things my mom said being true- his name, where she worked, and that he was dead (although the time frame was wrong, which foiled me for years)
