Is the butter salted? Honestly, I could see the croissants being fine minus the added salt, depending on toppings, filling. They're all about the butteriness.

Oh, I've not told you about my new favorite market treat: spinach & feta croissant. It's glorious. And the Pumpkin tries to steal it from me.

I got about an hr reprieve between the migraine painless thing and a massive sinus headache, so that was fun. I'm blaming hormones and the weather being unsettled (chance of thunderstorms tonight. & it was in the 60s.)

From what I've learned from GBBO, salt interferes with dough rising, so salt-less croissants may be even more puffy.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

chance of thunderstorms tonight.

It's 57 and thundering RIGHT NOW. This weather is bonkers.

That might not be a bad thing. Messier eating. (My cats would love that.)

You're usually a few hours ahead of me in bonkers weather, so ....

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I have no croissants, and this really doesn't seem fair.

I had weird vertigo yesterday, which I'm guessing had to do with whatever front was blowing in. Either that, or it's related to whatever husband and I came down with. We're wondering if it might not have been a really mild case of the flu, mitigated by the flu shot. We just each keep getting random bursts of feeling like hell.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

I may have to go home and make the croissants from the can in the fridge. I know, they will be as nothing compared to homemade, but they're as close as my home is likely to get anytime soon.

Not commenting on our weather, so I still have friends tomorrow.

Ugh, feel better Dana & DH.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

The croissants came out disappointing. I think I picked a poor recipe: Bittman uses just a regular puff pastry for them, without any yeast. So they didn't rise at all, and are bland because of no salt in the dough.

I hope they'll be edible, but I will save the second half of the dough for something else.

Went to get a mammogram, and I'm so tired I am skipping chorus rehearsal, even though I haven't been since before Christmas. I am beginning to wonder if I have something really wrong, I'm just so sleepy all the time this weekend. I feel like I could go to bed right now and sleep through until 6 am. That's not right.

Take care of yourself, Consuela! Maybe it's a sign you're fighting something off and need the sleep? Or a sign that you switched to tea instead of coffee because you had a cold and then didn't switch back, that was part of my problem a couple weeks ago...

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Matilda came home from school with a letter and a form to attend an Evangelical Christian Camp (Young Life) given to her by one of her teachers, who was also recruiting two of her "worldly" friends.

Steam is coming out of my ears and I will be talking to the school, the school district and the ACLU tomorrow.

Fucking furious.
