'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It's up to 8F here.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I do think it's bullshit that they cancelled the early evening fireworks and some other stuff here, but of course I was never planning on going to any of it anyway.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I have absolutely NO plans for this evening and I'm totally fine with that. Crawling in bed early sounds completely wonderful.

But before that, I need to get a jump on homework. I've had this week off from school and can get a bit ahead of my assignments today.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

My plans are to make lentil soup, set up my bullet journal, make some progress in setting up a blog, watching a movie, and reading a book.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

My plans are to microwave some frozen black-eyed peas and collard greens, do some day drinking and putter around the house. Possibly go to sleep early and set an alarm for 11:30, I haven't decided. Also bullet journaling.

Have already spiked my coffee with kahlua and need to decide which local sparkling wine to open for bellinis...

Oh, yes and drink prosecco. I can't forget that.

brillig

It's 16 degrees in New York, and there are already people huddling in corrals in Times Square. And it's windy.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I gotta work this evening. My family tradition is to eat chips and dip, drink some bubbly, and watch Dick Clark. We have chips and dip we never opened for the Christmas party due to a wealth of other food. And we laid in stock of sparkling grape juice for tonight. Dick Clark's Rocking New Year's Eve is just not the same without actual Dick Clark. So I am totally good with watching whatever.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

My upstairs neighbor got some Marx Brothers movies for Christmas, so I'll be bringing up a bottle of prosecco, watching until maybe 9, and then going to bed.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

We're going to the Cincinnati Pops concert with Morgan James singing, but should be home by 10:30. Tim's BFF lives 1/2 mile away and always has a huge house party on New Year's Eve, so Tim will probably go over there after we get home, but I will probably crank up the heated mattress pad and go to bed, because I am just not feeling a huge party tonight.
