Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Very quiet Christmas here, but cozy and nice, for all that. I don't remember what we paid for the fireplace dvd, but just for today, it earned its price. So lovely reading and sipping hot cider with the flames crackling away in the corner.

Lovely times for all my Buffistas, as long as your holidays last.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

And another staff member is down for the count. So much for having a couple days off at Christmas.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I spent yesterday on Amtrak shuttling the children down to Camp Grandparents and then coming home. DH picked me up at the train station, we stopped on the way home for Chinese takeout, and then watched the Doctor Who Christmas special, for a cozy traditional Jewish Christmas.

I'm technically working from home this week, but since almost nobody is in the office I plan to spend most of the break working on grad school and job applications so I can start the new year knowing that I've at least tried to get out of this rut.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Happy Birthday, Thoe, Jesse, and Rayne!

Huge Birthday Day! Happiness wishes all round. I have a couple non-Buffista birthday people too.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Happy birthdays Jesse,Rayne, Theo!

Sounds like a good plan, Jess.

I took this afternoon off so I can go drink wine (my local appellation celebrates their anniversary every year with a little multi-vineyard tasting thing - $20 for a souvenir glass and 7 locations is a pretty sweet deal), we'll just see how much I can get done before that...

Good plan, Jessica! I work weds-fri also and plan to do a lot of boring filing I've put off for...uh...over a year.

I like Matt's response to Dana's parents also

I am hipster coffee shopping while reading Yuletide and waiting to go get mani/pedis with my sister and mom, which was mom's present to us this year.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

"Oh, we intend to have kids once you're gone!"

Heh.

After the usual very hectic run-up to xmas with much hiking all over SF to get appropriate presents in the last couple days, we had Emmett and EM over on xmas eve. Matilda was, of course, blissed out to go flying into his arms.

JZ and Matilda had to go to church early (3pm) to rehearse for the Christmas play. (Matilda was Joseph again after cutting up one of my brown dishtowels for a beard.) EM - who has converted to Catholicism - was hanging out for another 45 minutes until mass. And Emmett and I had a gloriously fun time taunting her by drinking champagne and watching her fume and squirm (because even though a new convert she would have rather been home drinking). I don't know why it was so funny - but it totally was. Wicked but fun.

While they were all gone to the xmas pageant, Emmett and I continued to drink champagne and watched Invader Zim's Most Horrible Xmas Ever to great jolly satisfaction...
