Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Tuesday after Monday holiday means stupid busy even with a lot of my doctors on vacation. Boo. Don't wanna.
Huge Birthday Day! Happiness wishes all round. I have a couple non-Buffista birthday people too.
Happy birthdays Jesse,Rayne, Theo!
Sounds like a good plan, Jess.
I took this afternoon off so I can go drink wine (my local appellation celebrates their anniversary every year with a little multi-vineyard tasting thing - $20 for a souvenir glass and 7 locations is a pretty sweet deal), we'll just see how much I can get done before that...
Good plan, Jessica! I work weds-fri also and plan to do a lot of boring filing I've put off for...uh...over a year.
I like Matt's response to Dana's parents also
I am hipster coffee shopping while reading Yuletide and waiting to go get mani/pedis with my sister and mom, which was mom's present to us this year.
"Oh, we intend to have kids once you're gone!"
Heh.
After the usual very hectic run-up to xmas with much hiking all over SF to get appropriate presents in the last couple days, we had Emmett and EM over on xmas eve. Matilda was, of course, blissed out to go flying into his arms.
JZ and Matilda had to go to church early (3pm) to rehearse for the Christmas play. (Matilda was Joseph again after cutting up one of my brown dishtowels for a beard.) EM - who has converted to Catholicism - was hanging out for another 45 minutes until mass. And Emmett and I had a gloriously fun time taunting her by drinking champagne and watching her fume and squirm (because even though a new convert she would have rather been home drinking). I don't know why it was so funny - but it totally was. Wicked but fun.
While they were all gone to the xmas pageant, Emmett and I continued to drink champagne and watched Invader Zim's Most Horrible Xmas Ever to great jolly satisfaction...

I saw that hipster coffee and - being from SF - was not fazed in the least by its fussy presentation.
EM made dinner Xmas Eve - cioppino and beef stew. We forgot the Christmas Crackers this year so no crowns! We soldiered on though and watched Elf all cuddled about in the living room, then handed out the One Xmas Eve Present. JZ grew up always getting a new set of PJs on xmas eve, and I continue that tradition with her. In fact, I think all of her pajamas have been gifted to her on xmas eve. (They are particularly cute this year.)
The one thing that made our overcrowded apartment function this season was that our across the landing neighbors just moved out. So we could store all manner of Guinea Pig bedding and wrapping paper on the landing.
All went to bed overstuffed. EM slept in Matilda's bed. Emmett on the couch. Matilda on the floor next to him in her new sleeping bag, both under the Christmas tree lights.
Whereas only a couple years ago I was pummeled out of bed by E&M charging into my room on 12/25, yesterday JZ and I woke first and made coffee until the kids slowly roused.
Coffee and coffee happened as EM joined us and we did stockings first from oldest to youngest. Stockings were particularly well stocked this year.
Working from home. I actually have enough work to do, but DONT WANNA!!!
I also have lots of life things to do, that need doing. Still DONT WANNA!!!
I took the week off, but I'm going to be working on code for my Wife's business today. Still, it's very different code so it doesn't feel like work work.
