Natter 75: More Than a Million Natters Served
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I'm sorry Sail.
msbelle, I'm sorry about your kitty.
Callaluna, I hope court goes as easily and smoothly as possible for you.
I need to be scarce on FB for the time being.
I'm barely on FB anyway, but yeah, I need to limit my time there right now. And I probably limit my time on Twitter. On the one hand, there's good information being shared there. On the other hand, pacing things so I don't collapse in a heap of rage and despair is probably a good idea, too.
I say we celebrate. We celebrate every joyful moment that we can bear to. We celebrate each other. We celebrate victories miniscule and galactic. We celebrate our own worth and we celebrate the worth of every member of the human race.
WindSparrow, I love you. Thank you for writing this.
Thanks for the birthday wishes.
I opened my presents, and my aunt got me some new art supplies that I wanted, so now I'm drawing and figuring out how these pens work. (They're brush pens, and they can be used sort of like watercolor, but there's a definite learning curve here.) So, that's a nice distraction.
My Facebook feed is pretty much fine. I really don't know anyone who voted for Trump. I know a couple of people who were really into Bernie, and I'm not totally sure who they voted for in the general election, but one lives in a state where it really doesn't matter, and the other lives in PA and is horrified by Trump, so, I really don't have anything to block.
Haven't seen anything on Twitter so far, but I've been being kind of careful there. Last time I tried talking about refugees, I got a Holocaust denier responding.
Oh, Sail, I'm so sorry. I'm hoping for a smooth transition for your father.
Callaluna, good luck in court!
I'm so sorry, Sail. Strength and peace to your father and whole family.
Msbelle, I'm sorry to hear about your kitty.
We will celebrate because this might be the Apocalypse and we have learned from Buffy that when we've done fighting this one, there will be another. We will celebrate because this might Ragnaroc or it might be Armageddon but we will not go down without a fight. We will celebrate because joy only lives intermingled with grief. We will celebrate because every breath is a giant "Fuck you!" to the mundanity of evil.
This is beautiful, WindSparrow.

My FB feed has way too many conservative relatives and high school classmates to be a good place for me now...though I've been pleasantly surprised to discover I have more liberal cousins than I thought, some of them fighting the good fight in red-as-red-gets Alabama, and a few who might be part of a blue Georgia in another election or two.
Haven't seen anything on Twitter so far, but I've been being kind of careful there.
I've probably blocked a couple dozen people since my viral tweet from a few nights back. At least it's obnoxious total strangers instead of people who came out of the same environment and had the same early education as I did where it feels like we're no longer from the same planet.

It's actually not people who voted for Trump who are making FB hard for me; it's all the folks like me who are rightly horrified that Trump won. Right now 95% of the posts on my feed are talking about their fear and anger, and sharing articles about the potential horror of the coming 4 years, and I just don't have the emotional bandwidth to process all that horror and fear. I have to back away until I can handle it.
That makes me feel weak and shitty, but it's all I can do right now.
And, I just got into an argument with someone on someone else's thread. He's lecturing me about how he doesn't like arguing with uneducated people who don't understand the difference between asserting something and proving it. I was about to walk away, but really, this is going to be fun.
Oh, oh, start your comment with "Well, actually..."
I'm walking away from that argument. It's on a post that one of my favorite teachers from high school posted, and she says that he's a distant cousin of hers who only comments on her posts when he's got some political point to make, and I just don't see this going anywhere productive.

So lovely, WindSparrow!
Many happy returns, Hil! Enjoy asserting or proving or whatever. walking away.
I had a lot of stuff I would have liked to have gotten done today and did not. Just had no will to do anything except cocoon with my stories and make soup. At least I have soup, now, I guess. And I'm going to take a peek at the moon now and again n the morning, official full moon is at something like 5am here, and while I don't really know how the precise time will differ from other times tonight, it's easy enough for me to hit it so I might as well.
