IO how the years go by N my mother has turned into the kind of old people who sends pears from Harry and David, and I have turned into the kind of middle-aged people who likes them.
Mmm, pears. I don't remember when we actually got pears from Harry and David (pretty sure gifts from my grandparents), but we used those boxes to package up gifts for ages. I might still have some holding yarn or notions.
Those pears are freaking amazing tbf.
My father's retirement plan involved getting appointed to the Papua New Guinea Supreme Court. I'm pretty certain my role models for retirement are skewing my expectations.
For the second year in a row, we got those pears from husband's aunt. I am not the biggest fan of pears, and they arrive right before we go out of town for a week or more.
So we ripened a few quickly, and the others are in the fridge, where they will hopefully keep for 10 days.
Retail with benefits is not a bad deal if your living expenses are low. fingers crossed you get hired on.

As for retirement, not until Mr. S is in college, or at least graduated from high school. It'll probably be later than that, given I'm a federal employee and may not have much of a pension when the Republicans are done with it.
They are having a surprise retirement party for a Senior VP right now. In fact, someone just popped out and offered to watch the front desk so I could go in for a bit and fix myself a plate. I suppose I could have hung out but I haven't actually met the guy who is retiring before so I felt totally awkward and just scurried out with my food.
