I have boarded my flight to Detroit. I got to go through the metal detector this time, but TSA did a secondary screening on my carry-on so they could swab my chocolate. I don't even know.
Props to everyone working at the airport today. That was a special hell.
Oh, airports. My nephew was one of the lucky ones to spend 4-5 hours stuck on a plane on the tarmac at Atlanta last night. His mother was quick out of the gate to reserve him a hotel room, so he did have a good bed to go to once he was actually allowed off the plane, and he has enough status on Delta to have a 1st class seat to his destination today.
I just spent nearly 3 hours wrapping presents, so I'm in quite the holiday mood. A bad one, that is.
Oh Sparky I read about that and it sounded like such a nightmare!!
I have never been so glad to not be traveling. The accounts I read made it seem like passengers were generally good about keeping their cool, but it's a lousy situation to be in whether you were on a plane or in the terminal.
I'm headed to Worcester tomorrow, but in the car. I'm hoping the traffic won't be bad yet.
I can report that Detroit Metro is much less like a Hellmouth.
I know someone who was trying to get from Buffalo to Baltimore yesterday and ended up being routed through Orlando, I assume as a byproduct of all that mess.

I love that airport. It's easy to navigate, has good food options, plenty of outlets, and is good for plane spotting.
ATL isn't horrible, but it's no DTW.
Timelies all!
Mr. S's other shoe has been found(someone turned it in to the security desk), and my car is fixed!(They replaced the entire mirror, which is what I kind of expected, but still an additional charge on my credit card. Ah, well)
Yay for found and fixed stuff, Sheryl!
Continuing travel~ma for all travelers.
I'm getting a "waiting for socket" message and it's making me want to look around nervously for Jack Bauer.
I see that Barb has checked in on FB; are all other Seattleistas accounted for?
Seattleistas: West Seattle is nowhere near the train, right?
