Glad to hear from LA-istas!
Scrappy the tub is gorgeous.
I had Lisah and Bob hugs yesterday and it was most excellent!
That was after spending a couple extra unexpected hours at the doctors... in part because everyone forgot/didn't tell him I was in an exam room. I looked up from writing a short story about someone abandoned in an exam room over a holiday weekend to realize I'd been in there for almost two hours (thank you, subconscious). Then I drove for two hours that turned into three... it was a theme.
Sleeping forever now.
While I was home yesterday dealing with electricians and cable guys and burned-out appliances, I was home for the craziest winds we've seen in a while. My entire lawn and much of my porch are blanketed in dead pine needles (apparently my tree has been saving them up). I was glad I haven't gotten around to any outside decorating, it would have gone flying (BONUS: neighbors across the street have, at least temporarily, taken down their obnoxious musical star because of how it was swinging in the winds). Crazy winds unfortunately started the expected wildfires in San Diego County. Thankfully I am well south of where the fires currently are, though it's getting a little close for comfort to my dad's new place.
Ooh, pretty, Scrappy!
Ugh, hippo. To the exam room abandonment. Yay for hugs!
I was five minutes late for m y bus this morning, which means I was an hour late getting into the office. Sigh. But, whatever, I'm working 8 hours tomorrow so an hour less does not bother me. Also managed to not eat breakfast, though (because rushing to catch the bus and then the cafe I was kind of counting on being at the train station apparently doesn't exist anymore, so that's a bummer) and even though I had my chicken noodle soup as soon as I got here I have a feeling I will just be hungry all day no matter how much I eat.
Nice tub, Scrappy!
That story should feel extra authentic, hippo.
Co-workers: "I'm 25, I feel so old." "I know, dude, I turn 30 next week, it's weird." They moan about how the world has changed. Me: "Well, I'm sitting here laughing at both of you." "Shut up, Connie! Let me wallow in the moment!" Me: "Ok, I'll let you bask in the glow of your premature middle-aged-dom." "Yeah."
I love my geeks.
Ha, I know the feeling Connie. Half my friends are 20 somethings that are friends with my kids or teens that DH coaches. They forgive my quiet grins and shaking of the head. Yesterday a 25 yo with chiseled abs who can jump several feet in the air without breaking a sweat was telling me I needed to go to his boot camp in the park on Saturdays.
"Yeah, dude, you do have an ambulance standing by, right?"
Two hours in an exam room? Dang, hippo, that's terrible!
Ooh, and I totally want scrappy's tub, that's so cool! Jealous.
The fire is not over, but seems to have calmed down. On Tuesday, when we started, my school was less than .25 miles from the evacuation zone, but because we had students, we had to stay. We've had the past three days off which has been nice. We were hosting guest dogs but most things are back to normalish.
Timelies all!
There is a cheesecake in the oven that is for Gary's birthday party on Sunday. Tomorrow we Clean! All! The! Things!
