Oh, Sparky, condolences to you & yours.

My day was just stupid. Got to work, realized I'd left my food at home. No problem, we have a grocery store, 2 restaurants and food trucks just downstairs (not to mention riches a couple blocks away.) At which point, I discover I've left my wallet at home as well. Went home to work from there the rest of the day, cramps hit.

Otoh, after I clean up the leaves tomorrow, I'm gonna go to Maria's family TG & talk too much.

I'm so sorry Sparky.

I went for a massage today. I had a cold about 4-5 weeks ago and I've dealing with some pulled muscles or a misaligned rib in my back ever since. Then my massage therapist said, "I can feels something on your rib. I can't diagnose, but I think you might have a fracture."

I rebooked at the end of my massage, and her next available time outside my work hours is in March. I'm never giving her name to another person.

Our wings are not tired.

Most of my cooking I am going to delegate to the kids tomorrow. I'll supervise and have all the ingredients and recipes already assembled. My back has been in misery the last few days. I did manage to put up 4 long tables and cover them with brown paper set the tables. 12 people so I took the long tables from work and assembled them in a square so everyone would be facing each other. Forgot to get table cloths so I used the brown paper rolls they have been using for painting. Looks fine!

I did cook the cranberry relish so it could chill overnight and put together the broccoli lasagna for baking tomorrow. I'm patting myself on the back for having the foresight to make sure my boys could cook! They will be fine doing the rest. GF doesn't have any real cooking experience, but Bobby and I have been teaching her.

I'm exhausted and rambling. However, I do have to add that msbelle has most awesome hair.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Oh, sparky, I'm so sorry.

Today I worked half the day, picked up the turkey, dropped it at my sister's house, picked apples from her tree, ate lunch, took a nap, walked the dog, made a pie, had a friend over, binged 8 episodes of S1 of The Good Place (it holds up), made a second pie, pre-made some gravy for tomorrow, ate half a pizza, drank half a bottled of wine, saw the friend off, cleaned the kitchen.

I probably shouldn't have had so much wine, because I'm going running with my niece in the morning. Argh.

Tomorrow I have to: feed the dog, run with my niece, make stuffing, stuff the turkey, get the turkey into the oven, take a shower, help get the house ready, then relax until the turkey comes out because I've done all my bits of the meal. Easy-peasy.

I hope all the Buffistas have a lovely Thanksgiving if you celebrate.

My plan is to delegate the cooking to Dixie Cafe tomorrow. They have excellent turkey & dressing.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it!

I'm hosting two people today, so I'm doing Cornish hens instead of turkey. Fewer leftovers (but enough to make sandwiches tomorrow) and everyone gets a miniature drumstick. The birds thawed overnight and I cleaned the apartment yesterday afternoon. Today I'll assemble and bake two tarts (apple and pumpkin), and cook the birds, sweet potatoes, dressing, asparagus, and gravy, and make a Waldorf salad. One person is bringing cranberry sauce, rolls, and wine. The other is probably bringing mashed potatoes and wine.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm patting myself on the back for having the foresight to make sure my boys could cook!

Good call!

I am mad that I am now sick, not just for the holiday, but for a long weekend off work! Boo.

{{Jesse}} That sucks. May it pass quickly.

My BIL is staying home due to tooth awfulness, but otherwise all are coming. I've organized my to do list sequentially. Took drugs for my back and am watching the parade until they kick in. Savannah's gloves are nice.

Gratitude in abundance for Buffistas.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I wonder if my mild dislike of Thanksgiving is in part because my father died the Sunday before it in 1969? I've never connected that before....

Laura - Nov 23, 2017 5:12:10 am PST #19171 of 30002
Our wings are not tired.

No doubt, Theodosia. My mom didn't celebrate until after her kids went to school because her gram that raised her died on Thanksgiving. Part of my reasoning for not commemorating death anniversaries.

The kids have arrived to help cook. I better shower!
