I will poke around in the pile of unwanted supplies and debate with myself which looks more unprofessional: an extension cord for a belt or constantly tugging at my waistband.

What? If I'm not allowed to do home trepanning for migraines, I'm not letting other people perform home surgery either.
Is that an AMA thing? No endorsing home surgery?

Australia is voting for gay marriage today! (actually, tomorrow, but today is already tomorrow in Australia). Go Australia!
Not exactly. The "vote" was officially a non-binding postal survey rather than a vote, because the Senate had blocked taking a plebiscite on the issue. Voting closed last week; today is when the Australian Bureau of Statistics announces the result.
The polling on the issue looks very promising, so fingers crossed. But even if it's a Yes vote, the whole thing is non-binding. The PM will lose all credibility if he doesn't then allow a free vote in Parliament to pass actual legislation; but if he does, he could lose the support of the far right trolls in his government. So there's a couple of things that will be revealed today.
