Dancing at the library this afternoon. Pretty low key, but likely to be the most people I actually know in the audience. Got an hour still before I'm supposed to be there, and an hour and a half of prep with the troupe before we go on - kind of at a loose ends for the moment.
Oh, whoops, I haven't done my daily meditation yet. That's probably a good idea.
Tomorrow will be all about the yard work and housework I have been neglecting...
I have succeeded in getting the wax out of my carpet, but it was a highly dyed candle. Of course it was deep maroon, and it dripped onto a beige carpet. So I've got a pinky stain on the carpet, which is a thousand times better than the small pile of maroon wax. A stain remover will probably make a dent in it.
I bought a heat gun for the purpose and bought the second cheapest one, because it had a much lower bottom setting than the cheapest one, 250 vs 700.
So now I have a heat gun. I probably shouldn't start looking around my place and musing "Will it melt?"
Made it through my father's funeral and finally gave up on family time and came downstairs alone to watch tv for a bit. This is the part that's especially exhausting -- all the together time. Yikes.
Yes Jesse, I remember being utterly drained after my sister's memorial especially.
Also WRT lying - my kids lie a LOT more than I ever did as a kid (but I was neurotically truthful) but luckily for me they aren't any good at it
"Hello there, first-cousin-once-removed-of-Jesse, my name is Tom, and I will be Jesse's designated hugger for the evening. Jesse sincerely accepts your condolences."
Ha! I totally hugged everyone and it was fine. You would have been welcome to hug my second cousins on my behalf, though!
Family that you don't see regularly can be intense, even if they're people you get on with.

Not gonna lie, I'd find that hard to resist myself.
Yeah, that's exhausting all right. Glad you got through it okay, Jesse.
Interested in the results of any experiments in melting. But safety first.
Dance went pretty well, I think? Raised $200 for the library, had quite a large audience. We only had one speaker for stereo sound for the first set, so that was...challenging, but I think we mostly managed well. We kinda fell apart on the last couple of songs, but I don't know how apparent that was to the audience. Hopefully not very. Was fun, though!
At the restaurant after I ended up at a small table with just my parents, which was fine because I haven't seen them in a couple of weeks so we had catching up to do. And the food was delish.
Tired now. Maybe wine time.
