"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I just had the most adorable little cat and dog. The cat was in a stroller so, mostly contained. The dog, a dalmatian, was not. Ha! He wouldn't let go of the candy he was holding in order to get a new candy from me. He dropped the candy in the yard. Dad got him almost all the way out of the yard and he got loose and made a break for it, beelining straight back for me. So cute!

Also, my neighborhood really is super diverse, which makes me so happy!

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I refuse to participate until I can really participate again. E not wanting to do things all out is a bummer for me and so I've just stopped. They do not have school tomorrow, so he is now at a friend's house for the night.

I am going to alternate between baseball and stuff off the TiVo, I think.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

At one point three different Grim Reapers were converging on me from three different directions, and I have to admit I had a moment of existential doubt.

Whoa. Cinematic!

I might start watching Stranger Things S2. I've downloaded all the eps to my phone but I am a little concerned that if I start now I will have trouble stopping when it's time to go to sleep...

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

It was very dramatic! I'm not entirely sure it wasn't planned, but I think it was genuinely just coincidence. I am on close to my last bowl refill. I think I will make it, but just! I may or may not have hoarded a few of the peanut butter m&m's and nerds. We'll see if that stands up if I run out! The neighborhood facebook page says they generally go until 8:30, so in theory I have less than a half hour left with a full bowl, but...

I got rid of $90 in candy-a full large drinktub- (skittles and nerds are 'good stuff') in 2 hrs. But I'm a handful giver. Kids were impressed.

Lotsa little black girls dressed up as Wonder Woman, many with the moves, made me happy. Also had a 5 year old tornado. It was his idea. I know him & his fam from swim lessons, so asked what he'd be in the pool. Brow furrowed for a bit before he said "Hurr'cane!" Dad told me he's really into weather right now.

Did a half day of work, errands and then washed every fucking window in my house. Well, not the basement. But the rest. Inside and out. Not too many streaky bits at sunset. And then B came over to see if I had a spare iPhone cable, and thanks to Pumpkin, I did (the one she was chewing on. Not busted totally, but way too toothsome.)

And while I waited for all my dang devices to do their os updates, wiped down the livingroom blinds, which maaaaaaybe got done after the ceiling work last summer, but maybe not. I wrapped the, then, and they were pretty dusty.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ha! I went to bring my bowl back inside, and it was empty! And there were big kids running down the street. I don't even mind if one group took it all, I'm just glad kids are out!

when i die, please bake my ashes into a brick and use me to hit fascists.

My neighborhood is incredibly walkable and yet there are a bunch of parents shadowing in cars as the kids walk between houses. I want to scream at those parents and throw things. GET SOME DAMN EXERCISE AND BE WITH YOUR KIDS.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Liese, I'm glad you got a good bunch of kids! We're just a couple of streets over from a major street that gets tons of trick or treaters, but we almost never get any at our house.

Did you know that two kids will bring home twice as much candy as one kid? Because, good lord, we are overflowing.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Aww, hurr'cane!

My neighborhood was almost all car shadowed, but we have no sidewalks and there are ditches between all the driveways. And then with the kinda long stretches between the houses, I think it was advisable here.

I did the last refill, right at "closing time," so I think I'll stay out a bit longer, but it probably won't be my "until I run out" plan. It's looking like I bought exactly right, so thank goodness for my neighbor's heads up. That was a lot of candy! It was probably about 80 bucks, and I was at "y'all can take a few" which generally meant between 2-4 per kid.

We have hit the abashed teenager portion of the evening, ha! I'm good with teenagers, so it's fun to hit the right balance of needling.

I really did, Kate! I have no doubt that we were well over the 200 mark. It was super fun, and it was really great for me to be able to meet the neighborhood a little bit. It would have been nice to meet more of the parents, what with all the car shadowing and all, but still, it feels good to be a part of this community.
