I was heartened by this tweetstorm relating a conversation with a co-worker that voted Trump that was reachable and wants to turn around now that she realizes the mistake she made.

Which is exactly the same thing as was reported after Brexit. Many people just protest-voting for the hell of it and being surprised when they won. But everybody has to live with it.

From my outsider perspective, I'd say it's really important the next four years be spent working on voter registration and inclusion, and against gerrymandering. The majority of Americans now does lean towards more liberal measures. That majority has to (be able to) vote.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

this fucking year!

Yeah, this FUCKING year. Bowie, Prince, and now Cohen. Fuckity. Not to mention all the rest of the shit that has gone down. DAPL, among many other things. Those poor folks must feel so bad: they've been so fucked over by the whites, and now they know that unless Obama does something unprecedented in the next 8 weeks, the Apricot Demagogue will probably send in troops with live ammunition.

And anything Obama does, would just be reversed by the AD anyway.

I was in the city for dinner, and on the way home I ran into two big traffic jams; the first was because the protesters went up onto the freeway again I think. Oy. Good on them, but Trump's tentative pick for DHS thinks that such protests should be "quelled".

... I signed up for a VPN service today. Consider doing that, if you don't already; the NSA/Security state apparatus in the hands of Trump, Gingrich, and Pence does not fill me with complacency.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Still angry, still scared here.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Zenkitty, there's a petition asking the electoral college to do just that: [link]

It has over 2 million signatures already.

One one hand, I remember how furious I was when that WA elector said he wouldn't cast his vote for HRC even if she won his state. How dare he not respect the process, etc. On the other hand, Trump with nukes.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

As disastrous and terrifying as President Trump may be, I think the Electors handing the presidency to Clinton would start an actual civil war.

Paul Ryan is my actual Representative. I'll try to formulate a letter to him this weekend. No idea if he'll listen (and I'm so pissed at him for being so weasely on Trump) but I'd probably have better luck with him than Ron Johnson. I don't think I have to remind Tammy Baldwin of the stakes ahead of us, but I should write her, too.

Punishingly Intricate

I kind of want to fight every fight right now.

Same!!!

I did serious, full-force self defense training in my 20s and it is one of the best things I've ever done. It changed my life. I wish every girl could do it.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I don't want to be the left equivalent of a right-wing conspiracy theorist, but I also don't want to close my eyes to truth and accept deceipt and corruption in the aim of "going high." I've seen a few whisperings of a Russian computer hack of specific state returns and there's this: [link]

What we know:
1) There was voter suppression: [link]
2) Russians hacked the DNC: [link]
3) Russians were in contact with the Trump campaign throughout the election process: [link]
4) How were the reliable polls so off-base? (See 538, Princeton Election Consortium)

I know that our GOP "friends" have opened investigations with far less evidence. So do we bury our heads in the sand in the aim of bringing the country together (a noble goal, typical of the Democrat way), or do we push for this and get the truth? And feel free to tell me if I'm being a tin-foil hat wearing nutjob because I kind of feel like one, but I'm also looking at truths.

There was a New Yorker profile of Leonard Cohen a few weeks ago that was thoughtful and eulogistic in a way that anticipated this sad event.

It seems to be open access at the moment: [link]
