Well, you'd better not be thinking what I think you're thinking, because my answer is the same as always — no threesomes unless it's boy-boy-girl. Or Charlize Theron.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

The other twin is also dark-haired, at least in his IMDB photo.

Archie's hair is awful, and he's also the weakest actor.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Y'all, I have not been keeping up much around here, and I'm sorry to dump, but I'm so burned out. I was at a conference in San Antonio for two days, and it took nine hours to get back, and I didn't get home until 1 a.m. My knee (my right, the one I tore my meniscus and had surgery on on 2009/2010) has been bothering me a lot the past few weeks, and I did something to it yesterday, and I can barely walk. There's a pipe leaking in my bedroom ceiling, so my landlord cut a hole in the ceiling, and he's having a plumber come in tomorrow, and when he was in there cutting the damaged ceiling out, he moved my cat's litter box so that the opening was against the wall so that he couldn't get in. Poor kitty was so traumatized when I got home last night that he spent the whole night on my chest. (And he's such a good boy, he didn't go anywhere outside the litter box, just waited for me to move it back.) But I got no sleep, didn't unpack, and I have to leave in the morning for a two day board meeting in Greenville, SC, which is three and a half hours away. I forgot to make coffee before I left for work, and I have a caffeine headache, and I'm just...alone here in the office, crying at my desk. I have so much to catch up on, and I'm supposed to volunteer at the local NPR fundraising drive tonight (Why did I say I would do that??) and I have to unpack and repack and my poor cat is so freaked out, and I can barely walk and why do I keep saying yes to things? SOMEBODY SMACK ME. Preferably with a cup of coffee. Why am I even in the office? No one else is here.

Oh, and someone find me a nice orthopedist, because my last one retired and moved to Florida.

Cancel on the NPR thing. Something has to give, and it will not be the end of the world if you can't make it.

And I'm sorry, that's a sucky combination of events.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

OMG, amyth, that sounds physically and mentally and emotionally exhausting! I think Dana makes a good point on cancelling. You need some recovery time. You can help NPR next time, when you haven't got So Much Stuff going on. You've gotta take care of you.

Our wings are not tired.

{{amyth}} I wish I could deliver coffee to you! Yes, cancel the NPR event and go home and cuddle with the cat.

You're right, you're right, I know you're right. I have made coffee, and I'm about to send the email to the NPR person.

I'm starting to feel a little better. There are people in the office, so I have to at least act functional, which is probably one-third the battle at this point.

Thanks.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

amyth, if you had the flu or another "official" illness, you'd cancel on NPR. I think that how you feel is virtually the same as a doctor-recognized incidence. You mentioned that you didn't get any sleep last night; do I remember that it's extra-important for you to get a good night's sleep because of seizures? If that's the case, you really need to skip NPR and go home and take care of yourself.

t edit Okay, advice delivered too late. I'm glad you're cancelling with NPR.

Yes, it's totally important for me to get a good night's sleep. In fact, my boss texted me after I had already left for work, and said I didn't need to come in today. If I weren't already planted here, with my hot coffee in hand, I'd leave. I probably will leave as soon as I answer a few emails, and submit my travel for reimbursement, and leave new, updated out of office messages on my voice mail and email.

Good for you, amyth. That sounds like exactly the right call.
