Harvest is late in southern MN, which is a bad thing.

Woke up at 2AM to the smell of smoke, and incredible wind blowing. Turns out there's huge fires in Napa and Sonoma counties, thousands of people evacuated, maybe hundreds of homes destroyed. It still smells like smoke here, 60 miles to the south. Air quality is bad so no run this morning.
My BIL's sister and her husband were evacuated at 2AM but are otherwise fine.
Gah, fires + wind advisory = badness. The wind last night blew my closed umbrella over and my canoe off its sawhorses, must have been awful for the firefighting.
The Napa/Sonoma fires are not super near me (looking at a map. 20-30 miles for the closest), but the smoke is very very bad. I could see it billowing over the hills as I drove to work this morning and it's very twilight-y lighting-wise.
good to know DH was right about our three am smoke smell wake up call being far to the north. After another unseasonably hot day, too. How lovely, more fire season!
I dropped in here to check on buffistas and fires. Staying to send hugs, especially to Jilli and Kat (and all the things I missed bc post bankruptcy) but there are enough for everyone.
Yeah, the air quality is awful. No run for me today, although I may take the dog for a walk later...
Just dreary & depressing here. Great day to not be at work, idk?
Have rearranged a room and need to go back up there with a trashbag. But eating yellow squash with chile lime salt first.
There should be a rule that wildfire season ends when Denver gets snow.
I'm currently reading a script about Reagan and Gorbechev.
I'm sorry things are hard, Kat. I hope you'll get as much time with your father as possible.
Fire bad, tree pretty. Stay safe, y'all.
I hope the late harvest in southern MN is offset by the unusually warm weather across so much of the US. It does sound worrisome.
It's muggy here, but there's also some really needed rain coming out of it, so I'm trying not to grouse too loudly.
Well, crap. The house of the woman who choreographed our Carnival of Stars performance burned down last night. Her husband was out of work for a long time and just got a position a couple of months ago, there's no way this is going to be easy for them.
