Obviously trying to give a cat a tour of the amenities is ridiculous!
I kind of love this image, tho.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I need a space to kvetch and I can't do it anywhere else.
My dad has been slowly fading. He was in a nursing home at the beginning of the year, but he ran through his 100 days so now he is back at home. My mom refuses to figure out home care so she is his sole caregiver.
I've been trying to get home more to see him as he is going to die soon (but he's been dying for a while so maybe I'm wrong?). Anyhow, we just bought tickets to go at Thanksgiving.
In response, my mom is putting him in respite at the nursing home for a week. And I get it. He's a lot of work. But I'm not dragging my family to Ohio to just hang out and have fun. She needs the respite and she doesn't think having all of us in the house is going to be good for her. But really?!?!?
Cat! Buddy! Whose s kitty cat? You are. Yes you are. Hiding under the bed or wherever, that's a good boy.

You gotta do it though. I mean, I always do with a new cat or a new place. I don't think they pay much attention to me, but you gotta try.
I totally spaced that I have the Heart Walk tomorrow morning. I really should have mowed the lawn today but oh well. I still need to do enough laundry to be able to get dressed in the morning and pack up all my Jalloween bellydance doodads because I'm going straight from the Walk to rehearsal. But it's basically bed time and I am tired. I don't know who let me be in charge of managing my schedule, I am clearly not up to it.
Oh, Kat. That's rough.
Will you be able to visit him as much as you want in respite? I don't know how all that works.
Oh Kat, I'm sorry. That's so rough.
Tomorrow's clothes are in the washer, the stuff I need to bring with me is packed up, a sandwich is in an insulated bag in the trunk of my car, I think I just need to stay awake for 10 minutes or so until the cycle finishes and I can throw my clothes in dryer and go to sleep. Must remember to set my alarm.
Kat, that's hard. I don't have advice or really anything, just the offer that I'm here if you need anything.
Oh Kat, that is so hard.
Buddy has emerged! So that's good.
That's so frustrating & fraught, Kat. I hope you can find a channel on which you're not getting caught in a game of emotional telephone.
I need to scrub the litterbox. It's an outside-with-the-hose job. It's raining.
