Our wings are not tired.

Have quite a few favorite TNG episodes, but Inner Light always gets to sappy me.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Looking up Shades of Grey to see if I remember it (I do not), I learned that there's a Joy of Painting episode called "Shades of Grey". Kinda want to watch that now.

My mom and I got in the habit at one point of watching the local news and then switching over to ST:TNG (I think this was when it was bouncing around on different affiliates so it was on at odd times) and watching the last half only, so I might not know the beginnings of quite a few episodes. Didn't really hinder my enjoyment of them at the time.

Dang, my very not ergonomic set up here is noticeably uncomfortable.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That was because of a colorblind fan, right? Gotta love Bob Ross.

information libertarian

In Rental House Problems news, the phone tech who came out yesterday managed to splice a drop line in from somewhere, so we fed it in through a window and have internet!

Then the plumber came about the basement leaking and cut open a wall in the kitchen and pulled out wet insulation and says the cast-iron stack leading to the 2nd floor (and only shower) is leaking and the owner needs to fix it for several thousand dollars and two days with no water to the second floor.

I am SO GLAD we don't own this rental house, but I am starting to be rather sorry we're even renting it. Also the kitchen has the least functional layout of any kitchen I have ever used in my life.

Huh. The life insurance coverage my employer provides is going from 3x my salary to about 1 because of the salary to hourly transition. Weird.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Work was dull, but the rest of the day's been a bit of a mess. From realizing on the drive to work that I had nicked myself while shaving my legs and had blood splotches on my light-colored chinos, to dealing with Mr. S dribbling out the water he just drank on me and on himself.

Oh my god, flea, what a nightmare! I guess it will make you even more excited to get back into your own house, which will not only be better than it was last time, but will be a million times better than this place?

That seems shitty, honestly. Not that you have a lot of dependents, but still. I hope this job works out for you, or works out well enough for you to find something else.

Yeah, the hope for life insurance is always that I won't need it, so I'm not really too bothered, and I do have a policy I got while I was unemployed since I have all too much experience with waiting for payouts so my beneficiaries would not be quite so screwed.

I don't get the reasoning for it, frankly. And my one boss said she was really pushing to keep me salaried because she thinks the job is just that kind of job but it was out of the question, and I don't understand that either.

The actual work, so far as I have been trained anyway, is fine and might be interesting. We'll see. Although I just got a notice for training to work the front desk (because that's how they deal with laying off the receptionist, rotating that duty among what I thought were volunteers). I've been a receptionist before and I really don't want to be again. Sigh.

OMG I forgot to tell y'all. Yesterday one of the coworkers that I actually know from before starting talking to me in the bathroom as I was leaving and she was coming in and then KEPT UP THE CONVERSATION FROM THE STALL. So awkward. I couldn't just walk out the door while she was talking, that would be rude, right? But those are never conversations I ever want to have, I'm sorry. So I'm concerned that that's going to be something to watch out for.

Oh,and I get paid on Friday for the second half of September and then switch to the hourly schedule, so I'll get paid for the first week of October on the second Friday so my income will be, like, 3/4 of the usual for the month. So that'll be fun. But after that it should be pretty regular with the possibility of overtime.

I just witnessed someone yelling, "I've got to go -- talk to you later!!" to the coworker in the stall who wouldn't stop talking, so it is possible. I basically think talking from the stall is ruder, so.
