Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Ooh, points for creativity, Matt, but no one's got it yet.
She's working like a bat out of hell?
Ding ding!
I've got a build tomorrow that's gonna mess up my day, I know it.
I'll trade you build problems for a passive-aggressive (and clueless!) program manager.
Also,ND- why do they always give me mics that go over the ear and have to be somehow taped to their face near the mouth which looks horrific? Is it cheaper than the ones that go in the hair, or better sound? We are in a tiny black box.
There are quite a few reasons to use one position or the other. In most cases I will use both depending on the performer and how much they project. The inverse square law is what's coming into play here. Every time you double the distance between a sound source and a microphone you lose 6dB, so when you are dealing with the very short distances involved between a mic element and an actor's mouth when mounting a microphone on the head, a difference as small as one inch can have a very large impact regarding gain before feedback.
So we moved into our temporary rental on Sunday. Yesterday we found a water leak in the pipes in the basement, and today the phone tech reports there is a short in the underground phone line to the house, which will have to be replaced before we can get internet.
I mean, she should pay for them to fix the phone line, right? We have got to have internet at the house, if for no other reason that the kids can't do their homework without it. Which sucks when I think about the digital divide in my high-poverty city.
Dang, flea, that's awful. And yes, I would expect that to be something the owner needs to get fixed ASAP.
She's praying for the end of time so she can end her time with you?
Love it.
I have been working my butt off and being yelled at because no one is happy and it's driving me nuts. Had a meeting that was awful, went directly into another meeting where they were completely not understanding my question no matter how I phrased it (language barrier I think?) and then complained I hadn't gotten them back my comments on something that THEY NEVER SENT ME

Since you're renting, the owner is the landlord and is responsible for repairs to her property (unless the repairs are to something that you did, but this isn't such a situation).
Timelies all!
Work has been very quiet for me lately. As in, I have nothing to do. I have asked the guy I work with most if there were any projects I could work on, but he said he had none. (At least until we can order stuff again. Ah, the end of the fiscal year...)
