Capitalism fucking sucks. Can we just move on already? It's had its chance.
New location is Vallejo, driving commute would go from 7 minutes to 24 (with no traffic. I don't know what traffic is like) still no crossing bridges, transit goes from 35 minutes to 1:45 (by way of El Cerrito del Norte which is strange but would actually have some advantages). A not insignificant chunk out of my budget either way. Maybe I can find a carpool. The grounds in Vallejo are nicer, but the neighborhood is worse, but security is tighter.
I'll probably take the transfer. Next June I get my 5 year jacket and additional vacation time, which I would like. I think I will ask to make the job title Accounting/Financial Analyst or some such rather than Accounting Analyst as the job description currently reads. More accurate and will serve me better longterm. I can certainly do the job and having something new to learn is not terrible. Was planning to make my lifestyle more austere anyway.
A not trivial part of me wants to just bail and sow chaos as there is a lot of shit only I know how to do and fuck the corporation, but it's my coworkers who would bear the immediate brunt of that and it really would be better for me to have Financial Analyst on my resume. Sigh.
That's a big additional chunk out of your day for less money. I sure hope you can at least get a more useful title out of it, -t.
I am spiraling around the edge of an anxiety attack today, holding it off, but can feel it riiiiiight there. I've been doing some exercises at my standing desk and doing breathing exercises too.
Work is pretty dead and I am afraid if I leave early I will go spend a bunch of money. So I am saying here, I will go pick up the foster dog and watch Netflix if I get out early.
Timelies all!
I'm sorry for your loss, Epic.
That does sound sucky, -t.
McCain came out against the health care bill? Thank god.
msbelle, I hate when that happens. Either put me in a full-blown attack or leave me the hell alone. Can we do anything for you?
I am now looking at real estate while I wait for info from other people for work. I found a rowhouse in sarameg's neighborhood that two people could easily share. 3718 Rexmere for those so inclined to go looking.
Also there are 2 townhouses in this small development near me within walking distance to a bookstore, a fruit/veggie stand, a Mediterranean restaurant, and schoolyard/park. I think we could slowly but surely take over the whole place. 1 & 2 story 2 & 3 bedroom townhomes with private patios and a community pool. Less than $200k each. Just sayin.
McCain came out against the health care bill? Thank god.
This probably means the bill is dead, but I won't breathe a sigh of relief until that shitbag McConnell announces there won't be a vote on it.
OK, I have to share something ridiculous that just happened: I was in my office in a meeting, when Fancy Colleague called and left a voicemail and then called again. But, you know, none of our work is really urgent, so I figured I'd call back after my other meeting. In the meantime, his assistant has also emailed to follow up.
Turns out, what they needed was two tiny things added to a document I had sent them. And why didn't they do it themselves? It was "Read Only."
Haha. Ha. Ha.
I have to tell the assistant, right? She should know better.
