Laura's DH is incapable of sitting still, in my experience!
Yep. He is outside washing his truck now. He is doing something or sleeping. He has only 2 modes. He has to have hernia surgery, which has been delayed several times because of his weight. I dread his recovery because sitting around not doing anything will be pure torture.
Timelies all!
In a little while one of Mr. S's friends from daycare will be over for a playdate.
I hope the bagel was tasty as hell and therefore worth it.
It was tasty but not PAIN good.
Sorry about the bite, David. It always feels like unconscious self-flagellation.
Laura, such good news about your family--and aside from the hernia (afaik), we're married to similar men. Teach him to knit! H does sudoku incessantly when he's not building, repairing, or improving something for us or the neighbors. If he sits, he dozes off. Must stay busy!
Everybody else, stay safe! In or out of pink shortie overalls. (In my yout' we called 'em overhauls)
We had rain for two days and a brisk wind last night, and we're all clear. I would love to share the rain, though not the wind, farther east and south.
So looking at all the Irma footage...
Havana got badly flooded. Waist high in the streets. Their power grid took major damage and won't be back up any time soon.
Haiti - while it avoided the worst of the storm - has a very fragile power grid, so even a light swipe is likely to make things very bad.
In the Keys, it looked like Marathon was mostly underwater. I know that the roof came off the operations center for emergency responders in Key Largo.
Huge storm surge in Miami. Brickell Avenue was waist deep in water.
Just hit Marco Island on the gulf coast, and it's going into Naples now. I'm afraid there's going to be a massive (10 to 15 foot) storm surge in the St. Pete/Tampa area. That's going to cause heavy flooding similar to Harvey.
They're getting gusts from 130 to 142 as it goes into Naples. That's really bad.
Any news on Sarasota?
The eye is still south of Sarasota near Naples. But Sarasota is directly in the path.
Naples and Sarasota are both such lovely places.
I hope Jose makes a turn. Or dwindles in power.
Hurricane Jose is going to spend the next few days tracing a curlicue in the Sargasso Sea. Where it goes after Thursday is anyone's guess at this point.
