Willow: Something evil-crashed to earth in this. Then it broke out and slithered away to do badness. Giles: Well, in all fairness, we don't really know about the "slithered" part. Anya: No, no, I'm sure it frisked about like a fluffy lamb.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

So stressful, Laura, but I'm glad the DH is on his way to you.

Our wings are not tired.

Awesome news! DH called my brother at 6 this morning and talked to him. Sister and brother are now headed to my house on the east side of the state where we have hurricane windows throughout, and it is boarded up. Son & GF are meeting them to get them situated and unpacked because both have physical issues with brother having MS and sister having serious mobility issues. Cat and dog with them. So relieved.

DH is in NC heading steadily northbound. Crawled at 15-10 mph the entire state of SC, but it has sped up now.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Phew, Laura!

You guys, I slept almost 10 hours last night, and still feel like I could do more? But am feeling pretty good!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm so glad to hear it, Laura. It must be quite a relief.

So relieved! Step-dad, their kids, and all the rest of the family too.

Watching the reporter in Ft. Lauderdale talking about the surfers and how they better get out of the water. Ha! DH#2 was born in Fort Lauderdale. Storms = Surf. It is in the blood apparently. They will go home before it hits. Most of the time the waves are not worthwhile, gotta go for it when it is an option.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

My brother did a DNA test, and he emailed me late last night with the subject line "DNA preview". He didn't give me the full results, but he said we are 2% North African and have no Germanic DNA, which seems impossible. I'm tempted to call and wake him up to find out the rest.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

After unpacking all day, we had a bad night. Because some idiot (me) left the top off the dog food tub, one of our dogs (Chet) ate way too much, and dealt with it by puking all over the house. Would not have been so bad, except it was 2:30 in the morning. I cleaned puke up while the DH walked both dogs, in case of any issues showing up at, um, the other end. Got back to sleep around 4:00. Pets, they are so damn rewarding.

Ha, my niece and I were just talking about how our pups would eat until they got sick given the opportunity, while we have other family pups that will leave food in the bowl all day. Sorry for the rude house warming.
