Well, look at you. All dressed up in big sister's clothes.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

A fond farewell, maybe, Matt.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Aww, that's kinda awesome, in a way! I'm sorry for your loss, Matt, but I'm glad you're able to remember him in this sort of way.

Hope you feel better soon, meara!

Yeah, this one is super scary. There was a graphic showing the relative size to Andrew and I was shocked. They said the eye itself is twenty miles wide. I had no idea of the scale.

Our wings are not tired.

That is delightfully appropriate, Matt. Glad he was able to bring a smile of memory for you.

{{meara}} hope the body settles quickly

DH is in GA at this point. I think he is just resting from time to time in rest stops for now. Has had zero traffic issues. Pedal to the metal with enforcement having better things to do.

My sister and brother are mind blowingly frustrating, but I have to let it go. They are staying in my sister's non-boarded up house in a mandatory evacuation zone. Cops driving down the street with bullhorns telling them to get the hell out. Looking at a direct hit. Step-dad is super Zen about it, which I think is part of the priority shift of the recently widowed. His home is a manufactured home and he expects it may well be lost. He had my brother grab the pictures from the walls and some papers from his file cabinet to take over to sister's more substantial house with him. . He told me he has 30 years of memories with my mom in that house, but no storm can take the memories, the rest is just stuff.

Kids are hunkered down in reasonable locations with supplies and plans in place. Lots of other relatives staying. Grateful once again for DH relieving my worries and leaving. So he will be here enjoying the fall leaves with me!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Matt, I'm sorry about your friend.

Java cat, I hope your friend finds a place to stay.

meara, I hope you feel better quick!

I'm dealing with pain and swelling in my ankle, and feeling pretty lucky that's my worst problem right now. I should probably turn off the tv and social media and go try to sleep. Be safe, everyone and everyone's people and pets.

I was glad to see his Georgia post. So sorry for the rest of the fretworthy. I hope they make it ok.

Thrive to spite them

I'm sorry for your loss Matt , glad you had a fitting moment today.

I called Dad, he is in Tallahassee so out of the path of the hurricane but he said there were long lines at the gas station and everyone was getting gas and he had gone to Lowe's to get something but people were stocking up so he left.

Mostly the worry there is down trees and power outages more than any damage but the storm is so huge who knows what damage it will actually cause.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Aw, Matt, with the explanation that is lovely.

Best wishes to all your people, Laura. I'm so glad to hear B will be joining you! Warm thoughts to all everyone's people. All people in the path.

One of my customers with an open order is in St. Maartens. I can't imagine they care a whole lot about cookware at the moment, but gah I am going to do whatever I can for their order. I can't do much, wish I could do more.

Feel better, meara, that sounds miserable :(

WOO JESSE WINNING!!!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

So stressful, Laura, but I'm glad the DH is on his way to you.

Our wings are not tired.

Awesome news! DH called my brother at 6 this morning and talked to him. Sister and brother are now headed to my house on the east side of the state where we have hurricane windows throughout, and it is boarded up. Son & GF are meeting them to get them situated and unpacked because both have physical issues with brother having MS and sister having serious mobility issues. Cat and dog with them. So relieved.

DH is in NC heading steadily northbound. Crawled at 15-10 mph the entire state of SC, but it has sped up now.
