Note to self: next time co-worker greets me with "have you ever read something so horrible that you just had to share it with someone" just turn around and leave. Don't put your stuff down, don't engage in any way.

We had a "quick meeting" about the hiring freeze etc. They are NOT backfilling the positions of the people leaving. Nobody knows anything about when anything will happen or what revenue/cost reduction numbers we are looking for. On the whole, I feel worse about the whole situation than before the meeting and like I should start polishing my resume. It would be really hard to overstate how much I do not want be looking for a new job now.
Meeting also touched on the ongoing hurricanes and how they impact our business and I still am pretty much unable to keep it together when hurrican relief discussions happen in my general vicinity, so I've been spending a lot of energy on not crying.
This is a stupid day.
~ma for your dad, Kate.
I have friends in St. John. Haven't heard from them since 5am. They're probably okay, but I'm worried. I'm worried about everyone and everything today. Usually work is a good distraction from my anxiety, but not today.
I have taken two naps today, and neither of them have made me feel any less tired.
~ma to everyone with loved ones they haven't heard from, or in the path of the oncoming hurricane.
health ~ma to hippo.
-t, I'm sorry your day is stupid. I hope you don't have to look for a job.
Turns out my niece is not evacuating, because her husband wants to stay put. I'm kind of flipping out. But I have to rush out the door to physical therapy, so I am flipping out and running around like a maniac, which I guess is better than sitting at home and obsessing.

Sorry about the niece not leaving, amyth. My kids are staying. GF's dad can't leave because he works for a utility company, so mom won't leave either. So son and GF will stay too. She has an active EMT license so they figure they can be helpful volunteers. Doesn't please me, but I understand and would do the same in their situation. Other son, who knows. Won't know until tomorrow. DH still plans to leave but is still battening.
