My dad and cousin both live in Broward county, right in the heart of where the storm will hit, by current projections. His house is far enough inland and above the flood zone, so my cousin is going to go to his house after work Friday, and they are going to close all the hurricane shutters, set up the generator, and hunker down to wait it out. But I am so damned worried about them.
Also, much -ma for your dad, Kate.

Is anyone else almost expecting the next thing to be a massive earthquake or something? Plague of locusts?

I haven't decided if our theatre is being timely or tempting fate by doing a show in which it rains blood for the final two minutes.

Is that A View From the Bridge?
Knee seems to be improved on stairs and no crunching, so just bruising and not a torn meniscus, which I feared. It was numb for a good hour after the hit. Started waking up during the swim. Banged a nerve or three, I guess.
That sounds hellishly painful, sarameg.
Much ~ma to those in Irma's path.
~ma for your family and all those in the path of Irma, Pix. It is frustrating because really the path has a wide cone for a reason. Prep, prep, prep, wait, wait, wait. Ugh. By the time we know where it is going the roads will be closed.
My knee annoys me less than the bits of plaster that fell off the leaking ceiling. Goddamnit, gotta line up roofers.
Is that A View From the Bridge?
Yes. It's a remount of the West End/Broadway production. This week I'm surrounded by associate designers with charming London accents.
Ouch, sarameg!
Wishing safety for all in the path of Irma.
I went to Wendy's for dinner tonight, and the very chatty kid at the counter said, "I can't believe how foggy it is." It took me about five minutes to get him to believe that it was smoke from fires hundreds of miles away. I had to be quite blunt about "I'd like to order my dinner now." I heard him getting yelled at later for not working fast enough. Poor kid, I hope he can work on his efficiency and still get to interact with people.
sending out the Dad ma~~~~
My folks are still recovering from Matthew. They are in CO for this hurricane, but I really don't want them to come home to a major mess. Plus I have a ton of folks to watch for in FL
