Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Volcano eruption?

Oh please, no. Mt. Baker is sleepy, but active. We're above tsunami level, and at the moment away from the fires, though I looked directly at the sun earlier and the sky is lemon yellow and grey. But Baker is in easy reach, and I prefer not, thanks.

H is in Charlotte, NC, with his mom and his brother, released this morning after cancer surgery. We're both apocalypse-adjacent, on opposite coasts.

~ma for your dad, Kate. Safe evac for your family, and your neighbors, Laura.

And harbor and safety for all fleeing or fighting the planet's fury right now.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

May he be on the upswing, Kate.

On the parking garage stairs, got tangled in unraveling hem and tripped. Landed my bent knee on the edge of the step, so basically managed to whack the underside of the kneecap and what it rests on. No real swelling & feels only mildly weird at rest, but going up and down step, it ain't too thrilled. Hopefully didn't do too much damage.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Oh please, no. Mt. Baker is sleepy, but active.

It wasn't a vote, believe me.

There was a pretty big solar flare this morning. Considered a decade-class, 14th strongest since 1976. Unlikely to cause much disruption, just some good auroras this week.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Mmm, auroras. Bummer on the banged up knee. I find that particular bruise or whatever it is particularly annoying.

That hurt just reading about it, sarameg.

The status is NOT quo.

My dad and cousin both live in Broward county, right in the heart of where the storm will hit, by current projections. His house is far enough inland and above the flood zone, so my cousin is going to go to his house after work Friday, and they are going to close all the hurricane shutters, set up the generator, and hunker down to wait it out. But I am so damned worried about them.

Also, much -ma for your dad, Kate.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

~ma to your dad, Kate.

Is anyone else almost expecting the next thing to be a massive earthquake or something? Plague of locusts?

I haven't decided if our theatre is being timely or tempting fate by doing a show in which it rains blood for the final two minutes.
