I wanted to swim at Druid tonight and tomorrow, but mid60s with wind is a little chilly air temp when the water is cold and it's spitting rain. Tonight was the Y.

Ah, Friday night before a holiday weekend, of which I only have tomorrow off because hurricanes. Five days of nine hour shifts where they brought in lunch because we had to work through our lunches, one day off, then another work week of it. If Irma doesn't change directions sufficiently, this will likely be work for the next month.

Thrive to spite them

Mom's friend got confirmation she does have ALS. She had oral surgery and that somehow made it start earlier than it would have. Her tongue is paralyzed so she has trouble speaking and eating although she still can do both it's very tiring for her. They don't have a prognosis or time line of how it will progress. Her Drs seem on the ball but the past decade or so she's slid more and more into pseudoscience and sends mom links to mercola so I'm worried she will fall for some scam.

Her husband is a huge support.

She and mom have known each other for almost 40 years. She's 10 years younger than mom. Has 2 kids and 6 grandkids.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Do you mean the dust storms, Matt? [link]

Dust storms, plus record heat, plus uncontained wildfires that had authorities shutting down the one road to the festival. And the general aesthetic of what a lot of people were wearing (or not wearing) during the storms.

Nope, too cold and drippy to swim outside this morning. Going to shower to wake up (walk to market did not accomplish that) and run errands. Inside swim tonight.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Gary and I took Mr. S to the Boca Raton Childrens Museum today.(We borrowed my FIL's car, and they stayed home.) Mr.S ran around the museum for a while, then came back here.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Stupid anxiety is stupid.

So I still don't have an offer letter for the new job. My contact at the recruiting company said she was going to try and get it to me yesterday, but some of the people involved were off early for the holiday weekend. So I should get it on Tuesday.

In the meantime, Erin checked out the apartment, I filled out an application and made arrangements for Mayflower to move my stuff. Packing now.

Our wings are not tired.

Moving and new jobs both = anxiety even in the most ideal circumstances. I'm sorry! Both the upside and downside of it happening so quickly.
