"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Fingers crossed for your stepdad, Laura.

I feel for you, Steph. I was dealing with my own brand of work bullshit last week, including my opposite number with a client who couldn't be bothered to actually find and look at the files I posted online for his review.

At least hearing how poorly prepared he was for a feedback meeting he was supposed to be co-running with days of prep time erased any doubts I might have had about my own competence on this project. I held it together better in meetings the week I got back from hospitalization for a nervous breakdown years ago.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yes. My boss said two weeks notice would be OK so I could have a free week to move. I've been assuming I could find an apartment through online sites so I wouldn't have to visit to look at apartments.

I'm also assuming I can arrange movers during the three week period. Or else rent a truck and hire movers to load and unload it.

Am I assuming too much?

Nah, you should be able to do all that! But I would hate to move in to a place without seeing it in person, myself.

Although Tennys Sandgren is a tennis player from Tennessee, he is actually named after his great-grandfather who did not play tennis and was not from Tennessee.

That is amazing.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I just don't want the Editorial Office's inability to find an email to reflect poorly on the job I'm doing. If they really can't see that I sent an email, they're going to think I'm ignoring that part of the job. But I'm not.

I need to start cc-ing my coordinator when I send those emails.

Slightly related, I'm coming unglued because a FB friend INSISTS that this sentence, in an email from her child's English teacher, is ungrammatical: "I too am dedicated to Jay getting the best experience out of this year." The icing on the cake is that the hill she wants to die on is that the sentence is in the passive voice. IT LITERALLY SAYS "I AM". That is NOT passive construction.

But I need to stop fighting that battle. She even knows what I do for a living and is still insisting that it's passive voice.

t edit Update: she just declared huffily that she was being "ironic", and she's deleting the post. So...she doesn't understand the passive voice OR irony.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Congrats, Tommyrot!

Well I don't want to count my chickens while the eggs are all in one basket, but thanks.

I called my contact at the recruiting company (it was her boss who sent me the email) and she said she's pretty sure the company I'd work at is putting together an offer right now, but she wants to confirm that. She understood why I didn't want to commit to a start date until then.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Aw, poor Mr. Tennys looked like he had a chance at a huge upset, but it's not going well for him now.

Nice Offer~ma, Tom!

Giving Tino Ronnie the stink eye.

Well, the cardiac cath this morning lasted about 3 seconds. Way too much blockage. Triple bypass tomorrow morning at 6 AM. So ya know, keep the heart~ma flowing.

Oof, Laura.

I forgot to get quarters for the lockers and they don't let you bring out bags during open swim, & since I don't wanna leave my keys lying out on the deck, not swimming tonight. But I'll go out & get quarters now.....

He really is a great candidate for the surgery. Other than his cholesterol he has no health issues. Ideal weight, hasn't smoked in 40 years, no diabetes or any other complicating factors. He was very physically active until this clogged artery stuff hit him. So even though any 80 year old doesn't look forward to a 5 hour surgery, he is in pretty good shape to withstand it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That all sounds promising, Laura.

Sara, wouldn't the lifeguard or someone keep your keys? I mean, because it's you?
