Oh that is funny, Andi. Sorry, but I just snorted reading that. It has been a bit of a challenge this week in the midst of various friends and family, but I have successfully avoided any political screaming matches involving me punching clueless idiots that blindly support dangerous and bigoted agendas talk. My ability to change topic is one of my superpowers.
Natter 75: More Than a Million Natters Served
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
It's the likelihood that he was taking advantage of his position with cast members and fans that goes over that line for me.
I'll withhold judgement on that unless I hear a complaint from any of his former employees about being pressured into having sex.
I draw the line further back than that, since young actresses, staff members, or fans might feel like it's an honor, or at least an opportunity, and I hold the older/more powerful/married person to a higher standard of refraining from taking advantage of those opportunities. That's true in any case, but ESPECIALLY someone who has built his career on being a feminist.

It's not like he would have to overtly pressure them like some leering Snidely Whiplash, when we're talking about an industry with an inexhaustible supply of young women hoping to have a successful acting career (or even just get their foot in the door). When a man who can literally make or break someone's career is putting the moves on a young woman, that is a GROSS abuse of power.
There's also no excuse more disgusting than claiming, "But societal pressures made me sleep with all the women!" Come on.
I'm judging. I'm judgmental.
I'm also grateful that his work led me to you all.
Which sounds weirdly biblical and icky but you get my drift.
The urge to run away with the circus is really strong today.
We're all glad to know you, too, Allyson.

Facebook has reached a critical mass today of (1) bad information about viewing the eclipse (no, you should not take a selfie of the eclipse); (2) people losing their minds over Joss Whedon and/or losing their minds that anyone would dare to criticize him; and (3) people continuing to defend the Confederacy.
I don't even watch Game of Thrones, but all the reaction posts to last night's episode are the only posts on FB that aren't sending me into a raaaaage.
It seems I have to compartmentalize at this point in life because my entertainment options decrease dramatically if I eliminate actors/producers/directors/writers/etc that are assholes.
It's complicated.
