I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

It sounds like the KKK was a no-show, and the counterprotesters had a dance party instead.

Because Durham! I love this region.

If I have enough marker to make a sign for counter-protesting tomorrow, what should it say?

"Look at your lives! Look at your choices!" With Trump's face in a red circle with a line through it below.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That would be a good one! But more elaborate than I can now deal with. I'm thinking just "RESIST."

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Oh, that video was delightful! So many celeb guests!

Just had a lovely visit with FauxSon and his daughter, who sat and nearly resisted the urge to roll her eyes as her father and faux-grandma gossiped about the people we know. I got lost in who was seeing who and which divorce they were on and how they were managing to live in the same house with an ex-wife and an ex-girlfriend and an ex-I'm-not-sure-they-were-ever-really-married. And the ex-wife and ex-husband are still very good friends and do things together.

Oh, and a guy who had been a very good friend but who had a major falling-out with Hubby (and where he goes, so goes my nation) is also diabetic but he'd been utterly ignoring it and he lost part of his leg because it was his leg or his life.

I don't understand people who seem to thrive on drama (or not thrive).

FauxSon reminded me yet again to stay in touch so he doesn't have to keep track of me on Facebook to make sure I'm still alive.

Our wings are not tired.

Please to send calm~ma and keeping it together ~ma and so forth as I deliver a eulogy today for Mom. I've practiced a few times, but not an orator. I have to read word for word. I don't expect the crowd to be the type that boos at least.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Hold-it-together ~ma, Laura. You can do this. {{hugs}}

I waited too late to get eclipse glasses, too. The Goodwill is supposed to have some available on Monday morning, maybe we can get them there.

Last night Faux-niece (BFF's daughter) doubled-down on how bored she was by eclipses and declared she'd be reading a book. I am unreasonably annoyed by this girl. I think she'll be into it once it starts, but I've gone to some trouble to be with them for this event instead of going somewhere else, and it irks me that she's being so loudly not interested in it. Also irks me that she claims to have seen one before and thought it was boring; FFS she's 19 and has never been out of Tennessee, she has never seen a total eclipse.

The fact that I'm legitimately annoyed with her for other things is probably feeding into my annoyance over this.
