You'd never make it. I'd rip your spine out before you got half a step. Those little legs wouldn't be much good without one of those.

Some online ad put the idea of Shake Shack into my head, so I just got lunch there, and it was an excellent call. For the record.

Excellent job making the tough call!

Wow, Gud!

I know, right. They are turning into grown-ups.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Home now. My boss is out sick, her boss is (I think) in Thailand, the next person laterally is I think onsite but was not in her office, so I just told the Sr Analyst who sits next to me I had a headache. Which is also true. I did see the Sr Director at the coffee machine, I guess I could have explained to her, but I didn't feel like having that conversation in the kitchen.

Crap. My wife is all upset about the fact that I never got around to trying to fix her Facebook problem. I got busy and forgot about it, plus I have no idea how to fix it. Maybe I should keep a list of tasks to get to, but when I've done that in the past it quickly gets up to 30 or 40 things and becomes useless as there are always things that I can't get to.

You are not a magic fixer of everything, Gud.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Can't she contact facebook directly?

Dunno. I'll probably be checking that out tonight.

Her Facebook problem. Not yours. She is an adult. Why can't she check and contact Facebook directly? it's her account, and she would be able to give them details without having to relay them through you.

I'll say it again. You deserve to not feel like you're waiting for the other shoe to drop about what your wife may be upset or angry about. It doesn't matter if she has legitimate problems or issues, THEY AREN'T ALL YOUR FAULT, and they aren't all your burden to shoulder or fix. Or be someone she targets for her frustration and anger. That's not an equal partnership.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I gotta say, the toxic stories of the gaslighting and abuse in Gud's stories, followed by all the same reassurances every time actually makes me really, really anxious and stirring a lot of painful stuff up in my own past. (Not to say that these conversations shouldn't happen of course! Just taking stock of my own reactions.)

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Same. It's literally part of the reason I'm in therapy, and it stirs up my raaaaaaage and shame like crazy.
