I suggest you do a search on "Letter Writer". It'll get a bunch of other people's posts, but it'll also turn up the original letter writer's comments a lot more quickly.
In my management life, someone just told me she didn't think it was "emotionally safe" for people to talk about missing our team member who just left. What the actual fuck? She's not dead -- you can still be friends with her! And sure, express some sadness that she's left, but so help me if that carries over to when we have a new hire. This person is such a piece of work. People outside my team LOVE working with her, but she makes me nuts.
In short, I guess she is right that it is not emotionally safe! But I did keep all of that on the inside.
