If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Good news Sophia!

Why can't they just fix some of the problems with Obamacare,

Because what they see as the problems are a)the subsidies, b) the taxes on the wealthy and c) mandating that an insurance policy actually cover something.

Plus Medicaid expansion, etc. So pretty much every part of it that helps people.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I don't even understand the idea of repealing it without a replacement. I mean, I get that it's what they want to do, because they've been harping on it forever. But how do they think it's going to play?

It would be popular, I guess, with people who are paying a penalty for not having insurance. But how could you possibly predict what it would do to costs?

Our wings are not tired.

Parties and dancing in the streets because finally they repealed Obamacare. Whee! The level of stupidity is epic.

Until they realize that the health insurance they were finally able to get, that keeps them from dying, is Obamacare. (True story: TONS of Kentuckians said they loved Kynect but hated Obamacare and wanted it to burn. Kynect IS Obamacare. Jesus.)

Why can't they just fix some of the problems with Obamacare,

Because what they see as the problems are a)the subsidies, b) the taxes on the wealthy and c) mandating that an insurance policy actually cover something.

Plus I think they want to undo literally every single thing that Pres. Obama did, because they are petty, small, loathesome motherfuckers.

Yes, that can't be left out.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

There's also the part where they can't actually repeal Obamacare, because they are trying to do it through the budget process, so they can only make changes to financial parts.

Everything I know about this I learned on NPR this morning. [link]

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

And the real issue, I think, is that Obamacare WAS the compromise! I mean, the only other place to go is to say no insurance at all.

Right? I feel like if Republicans could fix some of the things in Obamacare that need to be fixed (one big thing is drug pricing), they would be re-elected FOREVER. Imagine campaigning on "Remember how your drugs under Obamacare used to be $700 a month, but now they're $40 a month? You know who fixed that? ME!!! Re-elect me forever!" And voters would.

But instead they just want to destroy Obamacare, which is not going to get them the votes they think it will.

The NYT has an article this morning about how it's historically been difficult/impossible to take away benefits/entitlement programs once they've been enacted.
