Our wings are not tired.

Oh, I like nice honest guys! Good luck with the online dating stuff. There was no internet the last time I dated. I've seen many people that had good success, and some not so much. Honestly, the person I am thinking of that has the worst luck also has horrible taste in men and a seriously flawed father and brother as male role models, so I can't blame the internet. Quite a number of nice success stories I have seen were in the geriatric set, friends of my parents and siblings. That surprised me, but shouldn't have.

And I have Stephen Colbert clips on Youtube to watch.

Colbert, and others in the late night comedy biz are in large part responsible for whatever bit of sanity I have left.

Our wings are not tired.

Oh! I have encouraging news to share. I've mentioned before the heartbreak of my sister's hoarding that started over 2 decades ago after her son's death. I haven't actually gone in, just glanced in the door this year, and still a horror scene, a physical and health hazard. But but but....

Many family members from far and wide are scheduled to come to here in August on what would have been Mom's 96th birthday for her funeral and burial up here. Last night when my sister and I were talking about the various family houses in regards to accessibility for my other sister who can't do stairs. She suggested that she really should clear out her downstairs bedroom so she could stay with her. I immediately jumped on it and said I could help her since we had almost a month before she arrived. She mentioned that she had been wanting to work on it but lacked motivation. For good measure I mentioned that my brother might find comfort in staying in our old family homestead too.

This is huge. This is the first time ever that she has been remotely open to doing anything about the condition of the house. I am cautiously optimistic and my other sister is going to work with the plan by telling her sister that she really would be most comfortable there with her. (which is easy since it is true) So, um de~cluttering~ma is appreciated.

Thrive to spite them

I haven't responded to every guy who said hi. Or sometimes I just have messaged hi back. It usually ends there.

Ive also gone through profiles and if they had pictures of pets and the profile was decent sent a message about the cat or dog ..like cute cat or something.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

That is great, Laura! Much de-cluttering~ma for you and your sister.

Weeding~ma, msbelle.

I'm feeling a little down, due to the extended run of hot, humid weather we've been having in my region. Feeling trapped in the AC isn't great. Still, I have a vacation trip planned in Halifax, Nova Scotia starting in 20 days. Looking at the Halifax weather report is currently giving me life. (Nothing above 79F expected for the next week. And some days are in the 50s—bliss!)

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

That's good, Laura.

Man, Roger Federer's kids are ridiculously adorable. Two sets of twins.

Fingers crossed, Laura, that does sound hopeful!

Calli, that is why I can't move back to DC. The heat and humidity do me in.

OMG, y'all. Had dinner with friends and several glasses of wine, Friday night. And then went to karaoke at a tiki bar. Had a vodka soda. And then two painkillers. And definitely NOT enough water. I was SUPER drunk...and ended up puking for three hours the next morning, and staying in bed until almost 4pm because I couldn't handle life. Ugh. My tummy felt tender the whole day long. Never again, man.

But then my friends came over and we had sleepover night and watched "Drop Dead Gorgeous" and "Office Space" on VHS, because yes, I still have a VCR. Lol. And this morning we made hash browns and bacon and eggs and coffee and watched Great British Bake Off and yay.

Our wings are not tired.

May there be many more nights like Saturday, and fewer like Friday! Hangovers do indeed suck.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Gary and my folks have taken Mr. S to the pool. Doing laundry and moving books. Quiet Sunday here.

Coding and Sleeping

Hey, the next Doctor is going to be female. I'm really looking forward to that. I'm also looking forward to seeing that last couple of seasons too.
