You're wrong about River. River's not on the ship. They didn't want her here, but she couldn't make herself leave. So she melted... Melted away. They didn't know she could do that, but she did.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Using the internet, I have self-diagnosed myself with ennui.

Have we talked about learning that word from the Trixie Belden books? I remember very few things from those books beyond "ennui", saying "rabbit rabbit" on the first day of the month, and Trixie pointing out "last one in, first one out" of the car.

Edit: And also possibly Irish twins.

I do not know this Trixie Belden. I don't remember where I learned about ennui, it is as if I have always known it perhaps in my DNA, and I still find the "rabbit rabbit" thing inexplicable but charming.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I find myself wanting to say "Halp!," which I think was something Trixie's little brother did.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I remember very few things from those books beyond "ennui", saying "rabbit rabbit" on the first day of the month, and Trixie pointing out "last one in, first one out" of the car.

I don't remember those things! I only remember "jalopy."

brillig

What is 'rabbit rabbit'? I don't think I've read any Trixie Belden.

Ha, the Trixie Belden bit is mentioned in the wikipedia page about Rabbit Rabbit.

"Rabbit rabbit rabbit" is one variant of a superstition found in Britain and North America that states that a person should say or repeat the word "rabbit" or "rabbits", or "white rabbits", or some combination of these elements, out loud upon waking on the first day of the month, because doing so will ensure good luck for the duration of that month.

Except Trixie totally cheats by putting a sign at the foot of her bed to help her remember.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I never could remember to do that.

I doubt anyone living in a city needs to worry about anything worse than a rat coming up via toilet.

You'd be wrong there. When we lived in a high-rise in NYC it happened - someone's pet python or something got into the building pipes and scared the fuck out of more than one tenant before it was captured.

Wild ones though, probably not an issue.

Pet pythons cause a plethora of problems.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

So not clicking on billytea's link. Nope.

I know the "rabbit rabbit" thing from witchy friends. I had no idea it was in the Trixie Belden books!
