This is not funny. This... this is a morality tale about the evils of sake.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That's scary, Jilli. I hope there's something obviously fixable.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Meep, Jilli. Good luck with all that.

I have re-empurpled my hair (today the co-worker who originally suggested adding cobalt blue said I should match my hair to my glasses and my stylist concurred). Quite pleased with it.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

-t, were you the one who was trying a dye that didn't require bleaching?

Yes! It's looking vibrant today. I asked her last time what the brand was. let's see if I can find where I put it...

Found it: Pulp Riot. It did fade a lot in the 7 weeks since last application, but I did not take any kind of care of it. It's hot enough to make washing my hair with cold water appealing again, and I found some ancient color-preserving shampoo in my bathroom, probably that doesn't go bad? We'll see how the colour does under those circumstances.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Today's been a shitshow of a day. N needed a physical for camp but we didn't know far enough in advance so we ended up at a minute clinic. G had surgery but then it got cancelled 90 minutes after it was supposed to start because the anesthesiologist was a jackass. And my GYN called me to tell me that yes, I'm in menopause, which I'm not super sad at but to think these are the only kids I'll get makes me a little wistful (though honest, I don't want more kids).

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Overtone conditioner. It really really really works. (And L'Oreal has a line of sulfate-free shampoos that aren't salon-brand expensive. I think the one that my hair likes is called Eversleek, but there are a bunch for different hair types.)

Tommy, congrats! Scrappy, congrats!

Gentle hugs/waves/hairpats to all the ailing Buffistas.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Kat, did you do a test? I would like some idea if what my stupid body is doing is actually menopause or not.

I had my annual and my GYN asked me when my last period was. I said, August 4. And she was like, "August 4 2016?" Then she ordered a blood test (estradiol and FSH). Then called me with the results.

Yay?

Overtone conditioner.

Orrrrrr if you have a conditioner you really like, mix a tablespoon or so of your (deposit-only, nothing mixed with developer) color into your conditioner. From everything I've read, there's nothing super-fancy about Overtone, it's just that it's premixed.
