Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

A work thing turned into a shitshow at the end of the day yesterday, so of course I had to work through that at several points in the night. Good times.

Woo hoo -- I got my boss all riled up about the shitstorm, and she's mad at All The People (not me). She literally got up in the middle of our conversation to go see if she could talk to her boss about it all.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I'm in a super-tedious planning meeting. Woo. Hoo.

Congrats on riling up your boss, Jesse!

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I'm waiting to get bloodwork done for cholesterol, etc. And I really want to get an Egg McMuffin on the way home.

I'm overdue on this bloodwork by a couple-few years, and I'm secretly worried that my cholesterol won't be a number but will just say "Velveeta", and that I have a new previously undiscovered form of diabetes known as Super Mega Ultra Big Gulp Diabetes.

Mostly, though, I would shank a dude for coffee.

Meeting ran an hour long, and now I can't decide if I want food or sleep more.

Vibes for good cholesterol numbers, Steph.

I had a two-hour meeting yesterday, but it was the good sort where I was able to contribute ideas. I think I do okay in meetings. I'm a very socially awkward person, but I'm really bad at respecting authority (maybe that's an Asperger's thing?) so I feel free to say things.

I am full of coffee! No Egg McMuffin, though. And it looked like blood, not Velveeta, in the collection tube, so I feel like that's a good start.

That's always good, Velveeta isn't very good at carrying oxygen.

For some reason, while listening to Al Franken's Giant of the Senate, I thought of Harry Potter and realized that the seventh book is basically an allegory of a political campaign. Harry is obviously the candidate. He's the talented, public-facing sort of person you want as a candidate. Hermione is the definitive campaign manager. She manages all the details, stays well away from the limelight, and the candidate would be lost and helpless without her. Ron is the friend who provides emotional support during the rigors of the campaign. Genny is.... she's the mistress who the candidate wants to lie low until the election is over. Luna is the crazy-ass idealist who helps you with the base and reminds you of your own idealism that got you into politics to start with. And so on...
