Natter 75: More Than a Million Natters Served
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Success: made it on the train from Prague to Vienna, and to the hotel, which seems great.
Unsuccessful: never made a reservation for the restaurant Husband's parents recommended, and it is booked for the entire time we're here. The receptionist at the hotel was taken aback.
Teppy, I'm so very sorry. Tons of ~ma for you and yours.
Timelies all!
Woke up with hair dye on my neck, pajamas, pillowcase and bottom sheet. < first world problems >
Churched. Lunch out for Father's Day. THE CHILD SPOKE WITH PEOPLE AND ENGAGED!!!!
Now, house-cleaning weekend continues:
1st round of dealing with clothes: 80% of things in closet are now hanging up. Pulled out a dress, 3 skirts, and a purse to get rid of. Pulled out several winter items to put into storage.
Drawers are organized and I pulled out 7 t-shirts to get rid of.
The mess that is my craft closet, I grabbed two pieces of fabric (multiple yards each) to get rid of. There is a ton more in that closet that needs to go.
I am not sure if y'all saw the dishes I posted on FB. I know it says I won't mail, but I will for b.org people if those are what anyone here has and needs some items.
I read that quickly and thought Mac was engaged to be married! That was shocking!
No surprise, I love the franciscan '70s pattern, but it isn't one I currently have, so I won't start a new one. But if anyone sees any Mikasa Sunflower or Syracuse China in yellow [link]
I am super duper bored. I think I say this every year, but when I am finished with theatre for the year, I have about a month of relief, and then NOTHING TO DO. I can't keep up friendships throughout the year, so in the summers I just have the one friend. And I don't drive. Yesterday I went to see a big Rose garden by myself, which was nice, but today it is hot and thunderstormy and I am stuck inside.
Apparently walking tours are what I do now -- after all walking tours on vacation, I just did one at a local cemetery, which was super interesting! So maybe that is my new thing?
So I really like this thing where I go to a tiny kinda warm restaurant in Upper Fells( counter seating, maybe 8 stools) and chat with the proprietress about this, that & the other & how we love Baltimore, let the Spanish chatter wash over me as Mexican radio plays, try to follow her dad's gentle teasing in Spanish, watch all sorts of Baltimore come in, make recommendations to those not sure of what to expect and eat really fucking good simple Mexican street food. Pollo & mushroom & Oaxacan cheese & salsa & lime sope (which are like a thick corn masa tart base, crisp on the bottom, soft atop) & a chorizo & nopales taco. I am still full 10 hrs later & they aren't huge! And I got a smoked pork & ham torta to go that will be 4 lunches, easily.
She said business has been steady & a lot of local businesses also patronize her (it's a latinx neighborhood) but she's also really pleased with how many folks are coming from word of mouth/social media. And coming back. It's just so.. I mean, it feels like a home I left and yet we both started finishing each other's sentences about the thing we love about this chosen home.
I just spent the better part of the last 30 hours trying to sleep off a migraine. I still have the not-quite-dizzy-sorta-fuzzy feeling, but I was at least able to call my dad for Father's Day without having to search for words. I may be up for a while tonight though. Luckily I don't have to be in early tomorrow.
ION, I bought a Bob Ross wig for our lighting designer (because he's painting happy little clouds onto the set) and now my sidebar ads are ridiculous.
Good job, Mac, talking to other humans!
sarameg, that does sound like an easy homelike enjoyable place.
aurelia, I hope you get to feeling better soon.
As for me, I was so tired when I left work a little while ago that I looked in my tote bag, said, "Oh, I must have left my purse in the kitchen," and started to go back for it. The overnight staff person gave me a weird look and said, "You don't have your purse? That isn't your purse?" and gestured to my shoulder, where it was hanging.
