Saffron: But we've been wed. Aren't we to become one flesh? Mal: Well, no, uh... We're still two fleshes here, and I think that your flesh ought to sleep somewhere else.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

A sign that maybe I'm a little on edge (besides the 911 thing). I decided to get Cool Ranch Doritos from the snack machine across the way (even though I was thinking about trying to eat healthier, guess that starts tomorrow!) I pay for them, and they get stuck, so I pay again, and I get one, but I've paid for two, so I pay again, and nothing comes out, and I've paid for three, so I pay AGAIN. I end up with FOUR Cool Ranch Doritos, when I only sort of wanted one. So that's kind of gross, and financially not the smartest, because I spent a bunch of $$ I didn't want to spend because I was ENRAGED that the machine kept stiffing me.

I think it's a good thing it's Friday. I need to chill out.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Rotten vending machine! Also, rotten area code!

Me? Kind headache-y and tired after giving blood yesterday.

Our wings are not tired.

when he returned the cannister, it often came with cookies

Okay, that is outright adorable.

{{{msbelle}}} I hope the day flies by and you have a restful evening.

He said that it was his eighth call that day, and it was only 11:00 a.m., and that was just him, that there were other officers doing it as well.

Wow, what a waste of resources. Has changing the area code been addressed as a solution?

Woo! for no incision cancer!

It looks like I might have to drive for a basketball tournament tonight. Ugh. DH wouldn't ask if he wasn't desperate. The kids are great and all, but it is in Miami and the drive there would be rush hour. Ugh.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I'm sorry, amyth, but that made me laugh.

At what point is ltc going to learn to say, I'm hungry instead of throwing a major tantrum? I would give her lunch early if she told me.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

sj, I've used care.com with luck in the past, and also my local FB mom's group(s).

[eta: that reminds me, I need to activate my care.com account again since our sitter gave notice yesterday! I'm proud of her for getting a FT job but noooooooooooooooooooooooo]

I have said many times that the twos were not terrible for me because the communication was so much better.

Good luck, sj.

I am only slightly more work-functional than yesterday. But better is good I guess.

It's just frustrating because she's completely capable of saying hungry but doesn't do so consistently.

I think part of my problem finding a sitter is I don't really trust anyone. How do I hire a stranger to watch my baby?

It is really tough! That's why I prefer to get recommendations from other local moms, I know we all have each other's best interests in mind.

On that note, I just got a recommendation for a sitter named Jessica from a mom also named Jessica. Come on, 1970s parents, think outside the box!

The only local mom I know with a kid is the one I used to babysit for. I guess I should start to be social and meet people. Now that ltc can be led to the car by hand and I do t have to carry the heavy car seat, I have no excuse not to.
