Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Damn, Kat. I am glad you are almost done with that dumpster fire. Not your circus, not your monkeys.

Ugh, Jesse.

Good to hear that it hasn't spread, 'suela! Much ~ma to your brother.

Our wings are not tired.

That's my mantra for the next 10 days.

Hey, tomorrow single digits! I hope it helps to have the end in sight.

Much quick healing~ma for your brother, Consuela.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Commencement sounds fun if the weather is up for it. Which sounds like it isn't.

Yeah, I mean I still choked up a little a couple of times. They aren't even my kids!

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I guess this was a Super Bowl commercial this year, but I'm only now seeing it. And surely everyone must see it.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Wrong thread.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Random question. Did anybody watch the revamped Dirty Dancing that was on last night?

I'm not a fan of the movie but my sister was watching it when I got home so I saw the last 30 minutes. Fine, whatever, as cringe-worthy as ever. But they tacked a scene on at the end that - I just can't even think what they were intending. What they accomplished was undermining pretty much every good thing about that movie. I'm not even a fan - my sister was hopping mad.

Basically,

a 15-years-or-so-later, and it's Baby sitting in the audience watching a production of Dirty Dancing, directed by now-a-Broadway-star Johnny. Okay, whatever. Then they chat and...her kid runs up, followed by her generic country club husband and she explains that she's a stay-at-home mom but she still dances - salsa at the JCC once a week! So, basically, the whole entire awakening and growth and exploration of self led her...down exactly the path she was on before the movie. But it sure did give Johnny a career boost!

What the everloving fuck?

Thrive to spite them

brenda I only watched a few minutes of the movie, had no idea how it was framed, and bowed out. Then I read about the remake. They missed the all the points of the movie, everything that made it what it is. Part of me wants to watch it for myself and the rest just wants to watch the actual movie and pretend this remake never happened.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Woo, four day weekend! We'll be at Balticon this weekend. (Hopefully we'll get to see hippocampus in more than passing.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh HELL no, brenda! Am more glad than ever that I didn't watch it. I will continue to pretend it never existed.

Because books.

What the everloving fuck?

Oh, it was so bad. All of it. But the ending was surreal! Whoever revised the script was so very wrong, on so many levels.
