So last night I made a rare batch, for may, of cookies, as it was cool & I knew today was the last shift of Kyla, as she's finishing her freshman year and going home for the summer & isn't sure if she'll return to the y in the fall. She'd lamented no more cookies.
Anyway, I get there tonight & she's not there! She'd last minute swapped shifts to attend a Mother's Day cookout with her aunt. But I gave the cookies to Thomas, a young, goofy guard (who always gives me a huge wave every time I arrive )& told him to enjoy.
While I was swimming, Thomas, unprompted, texted her to tell her I'd made cookies wth her in mind & to come get them. And she did! She made sure he'd taken some and told me if she comes back in the fall, it'll be the cookies that decide it :) I adore both those kidsyoung adults today for the sweetness they demonstrated.
Aw, that's lovely.
Mulched beds are pretty much weeded, lawn is 1/2-2/3 mowed (mown? Cut), yard waste bin is full. Need to take out the garbage and recycling and put all the bins on the street but I am tired.
And I have my intro session at the gym down the street tomorrow at 6:15 pm and dance class at 7, so doing anything after work is pretty unlikely. Oh well.
We met with the realtors and our house sold for over 700k!!!!1!!!! We're both flabbergasted. It's a nice house, but it only has one bathroom. J is off to Michigan on Thursday to look at houses and probably put down an offer.
Today we took our Labradoodle to his third go-round of obedience school. He has twice gone to AKC training which relies on verbal praise and use of a choke chain (It doesn't hurt--it's designed to startle the dog so he stops the behavior). Our guy is choke chain be damned when he sees a squirrel or the dogs down the street who are His Sworn Enemies For Life and he lunges for them. He is over 100lbs and can pull me off my feet, so J has to do almost all the walking.
We are now trying to train him using only reinforcement. He will now get all his food from our hands and has to work for it (like sitting, or looking in our face when we ask). Wish us luck.
CONGRATULATIONS! Scrappy. That is awesome.
Congratulations, Scrappy! Good luck with the reinforcement training, that sure sounds like a good idea.

Wow. Our house would probably go for about 120k and we have 3 baths, 3 bedrooms, a 2 car garage and a half-acre of land.
This weekend I did four loads of laundry, and put away five. I've done three loads of dishes. I've broken down what seems like a million cardboard boxes that have been accumulating. Done some kitchen cleaning. Unclogged toilets twice. Jump started our Nissan that has been derelict for months. Discovered the battery was dead and got it replaced (still under warranty so no cost but super annoying because I wanted to run codes and fix the A/C, not deal with the battery). I edited and printed pictures for a multi-picture frame for my wife's office, hung the frame. Did a little work on my wife's office computer. Went on a massive grocery store trip, cooked dinner both nights, and did some coding on a web app for my wife's soon to be started business.
And I managed to get in exercise on both days. Unfortunately that still left a number of tasks on the table.
That sounds like a lot, Gud!
Yeah, I ran Saturday morning. And after that I sat on my ass and reheated some leftovers and read. And then I went and got ice cream, then went to a friend's house where we made a meal kit dinner and watched a movie. Today I got a massage and went to target. And ate last nights leftovers. I guess I unloaded the dishwasher in there somewhere.
