I have only done one 5k and I had Kelly and her bf with me. And while they did great encouraging me and all that, I wondered how I would have fared had I just been able to plug into Hamilton and GO. I need to find another 5k.
This is the only 5K I've walked without Tim...and the only one where I finished in under an hour. Hmmm.
Yeah, I've been hesitant to do a 5k on my own, but I am absolutely convinced that my main 5k friend (who is trying) and her poky BF (who is trying my patience) are a large part of why I haven't broken an hour yet.
Sorry about the pain, Dana. Best of luck dealing with it and dealing with the medical bureaucracy.
Glad to hear Ouise's good news.

I should be totally fair, here: last year when Tim walked the 5K with me, we finished in 1 hour and 2 minutes. So we were close.
Dealing with a serious disease becomes your full-time job. It ought to be worthy of going on your tax form.
As I logged out for lunch, I found myself thinking "No, you can't go visit your car." Car likes carrots.

Yeah, friend and I have done 1 hr, 3 min. But since BF started coming along, we've gotten slower rather than faster. So it's just an interesting idea, whether I'd break an hour on my own. For now, I enjoy her company, so I tolerate his. Maybe I'll ask her to try to light a fire under him for the next one we all do together. (FYI, just realized I might be coming off jerky - not like he's slow due to health or whatever, I'd be okay holding back for someone who's struggling. He stops to take pictures. Or to stand there listening to the music being played along the route, that kinda thing).
Enjoy, Connie! You've earned your shiny new toy (that likes carrots!)
This episode of Say Yes to the Dress with the polygamous threesome is really weird. The whole vibe they're going for is...weird.
Jesus, the process of having to deal with a doctor's office when you're sick is such a cruel joke.
Truth. Dismaying and upsetting truth.
I'm sorry the shot didn't do the trick. Good luck with the whole surgery process. So sorry for the pain.
And it seems that the more dire your health situation, the less helpful the doctors' offices are. When I had my stroke (2006), I needed to go back to see the neurologist; her office let me make an appointment, then cancelled. At least twice. Then announced she was going on maternity leave ... and didn't offer me anyone else to see. I needed to get a refill on the blood thinner, but I couldn't get in to see a doctor to prescribe it and they wouldn't call it in. I finally got in to see a doctor who said he didn't actually deal with stroke patients - he was a movement disorder specialist. But he did prescribe the medication AND referred me to the right specialist.
