All my winter clothes are finally out of my room. 9 things gotten rid of and two pairs of shoes gone.
Dishes washed.
Load of laundry in.

Just in time for the Derby!
I posted this on FB, but not here: today was the Flying Pig 5K, which I finished in 57 minutes! That's my best 5K time ever, and the first time I've finished a 5K in under an hour. I'm super proud. I cried just a little when I crossed the finish line and realized I was under an hour.
Because I am a nerd who is motivated not just by music but by the intersection of music and stories, I walked the first mile to songs from Hamilton, and crossed the finish line to the Captain America March (which is a pretty damn triumphant song to cross a finish line to).
However, I need new running shoes, and I realized that only a little bit ago, and it was too close to the race to break in new shoes. But since I wore my old running shoes, I got a GIANT blister on the ball of my right foot around the 2-mile mark. (I was at about 37 minutes there, but my foot started hurting so much from the blister that I thought I'd have to slow down so much that I wouldn't finish in under an hour, so I'm extra proud of my finish time.) Definitely have to get new shoes once that blister heals.
We also walked the 1-mile beer race last night, which was fun but also raining, windy as hell, and 45 degrees or less. RIDICULOUSLY cold. But fun! And the finisher's medal doubles as a bottle opener.
Just in time for the Derby!
Oh yeah! I (clearly) wasn't thinking about that -- they are for Commencement, where I will apparently get to stand somewhere and tell people where to go.
Congrats on the races!
W00t! Go Steph!
I met up with a friend for a Greek festival this afternoon. Then I did my grocery shopping and did some gardening. It's relatively cool here right now, which makes gardening a delight.
That is really awesome, Teppy! I am certainly not at that pace yet. I listen to music while exercising, but not during actual races. Too much going on, and I tend to socialize. Sweet medals! So sorry about the blisters. Tape! Tape! It is the only thing that ever saved me from blisters.
Teppy - that is so exciting!! Go you!
Jesse: perfect Derby wear. Except that conditions at Churchill are so unpredictable that I bet there are lots of ruined hats there this year.
Sadly, Badminton didn't live stream xc due to technical difficulties and I can't afford an FEI subscription for my full day of watching horse sports devolved to half a day (5:30 am - 11 ish) of listening to Badminton radio and the rest of the day devoted to Churchill Downs.
Exciting news: NBCSN is going to broadcast Royal Ascot this year! Think of the HATS on our USAian tvs!
I am now the proud owner of a 2016 Subaru Impreza. And my lizard brain is screaming "What did you do! It's too fancy! So many fiddly bits to go wrong! You're not worthy of a car that's barely a year old!" It still has two years to go on the factory warranty, and their Certified Used Cars have a 7-year powertrain warranty. They did a hard sell on the extended warranty that gives you the factory-level warranty for 7 years, but all the advice I've read about not buying extended warranties whispered to me, and I resisted. Boy, the money guy was annoyed at me. Tsking and shaking his head and wondering why I'd want to go "all that way" to the auto shop when I could bring it into the fancy dealership. Well, Bucky, my auto shop is a mile from my house, and you shouldn't have dropped the fact that you charge $150 an hour for labor. My shop greets me by name and praised me for my decision to replace the Jeep.
The actual salesman was very nice, only inquired politely if I might be interested in the brand new version of the Impreza, and is working on his Ph.D. in history. So we had a nice chat while we waited for the inspection of the car.
I hate to think of what an anxious mess I'd be if I weren't on the Lexapro.
GOOD FOR YOU!! YOU DESERVE NICE THINGS!!!
