We just had our first rehearsal of Beethoven's 9th with the orchestra. . . the choir's music doesn't have the measure numbers that the symphonic score does. . . confusing.

Oh dang. That's not going to be confusing at all.

I am organizing a team of friends to play soccer in a tournament Labor Day weekend (why no, I don't play soccer, why do you ask?). We have decided that since the tournament is in Canada this year, our team name is going to be "Maple Chasers". And we are going to be looking for Canadian wives to get us out of the US (never mind that some folks already have girlfriends). We want to have themed nicknames as well--so far, "Whiskey Business" is going to involve a Risky Business costume and Canadian whisky. We will also have an "HBiC"--Head Beaver in Charge. Can anyone think of appropriate fun/punny Canadian-chasing type nicknames?? Especially if they are dirty and/or lesbian-ish??

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Meatloaf for dinner. Of course.

I don't think there was cheese. I'm sure the fine people at Costco could tell you.

The glorious Ninth! So exciting, sumi!

Pants by Friday, woohoo! Vicariously tracking other people's orders, that's a new experience. Can vicariously doing anything count as an experience? Must ponder.

I'm sorry you're having trouble doing things, I feel ya. You will eventually be on your trip and have a good time and if you don't manage to pack everything it will be okay. And it's ok if you can't believe that right now, it's still true.

Msbelle, maybe go to a doctor? If you aren't getting better it might be time for a professional assessment.

Burrell, I think it's maybe more awkward than at I didn't mean to include her, that I could forget what I'm sure is always on his mind. Does that make sense? Anyway, I just had to unload my awkwardness somewhere and hoped y'all wouldn't mind, no hair pats necessary.

information libertarian

In somewhat unexpected news, I got a new job yesterday. I'm going to be the vice-boss in my department, and will have direct reports. The boss sent out an announcement email at 4:30, so I'm going to have to deal with a lot of congratulations this morning. I'm actually really sad to be giving up my special nonprofit grants hat, and a little worried about how my relationships are going to change.

But at least one of my issues as a new female manager is never going to be "How much boob is too much boob." #smallblessings

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So that's.... exciting? Good luck, at least!!

Also, I am not ready to sing Beethoven. Not at all.

Is anyone ready to sing Beethoven? Not me!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

the choir's music doesn't have the measure numbers that the symphonic score does. . . confusing.

Oh noooo. Does it have rehearsal numbers? I hope the conductor is giving y'all something to work with.

Also, I am not ready to sing Beethoven. Not at all.

Soprano or alto? God knows both of them have different challenges.

Schubert's Mass in G, Vaughn Williams' Serenade to Music, Revelation by Z. Randall Stroope and John the Revelator.

Sweet. Serenade to Music is really nice. I love Vaughan Williams.

Wow, flea. Exciting, kind of?

Our wings are not tired.

so I'm going to have to deal with a lot of congratulations this morning

Congratulations! It is good to be recognized.

Pants by Friday!! Woo!

My contribution to #smallblessings: this morning DH was about to make eggs and we had none. On his way out the door I asked him if he would go to TJs and get the better natural eggs instead of the Publix hormone factory eggs, and not only did he agree, he agreed wholeheartedly and expressed his desire to be more mindful of that stuff.
