Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Full disclosure: until you all started posting about Baby Driver, I assumed -- just based on the name -- that it was some corny Look Who's Talking-esque comedy about an infant that drives a car. No, really. (I obviously hadn't seen the trailer or even a poster.)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Me too.

I mean, it's unfortunate but it sounds like that movie you described would exist.

I'm surprised that it doesn't.

brillig

There was a movie a couple of months ago called Boss Baby, so it's an easy mistake to make.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I loved Baby Driver--but it does have very flimsy characters. Still, it didn't bother me, as everything else was so visually and aurally fun.

Mr. Scola’s wardrobe by Botany 500

I wonder if there were budget issues with Baby Driver, because in the first half the car chases were AMAZING, but in the climax the car chases tended to be in confined places like parking lots or parking garages.

Compassionately intolerant

"If there are real things that stand by people's beds, how big a coincidence would it be for one to show up right after you watched a movie about things that stand by people's beds?"

Cheers for that, chris!

Edgar Wright spoke at Awesome Con. I was too busy working, but the attendees said very complimentary things about him. I'm embarrassed to say, I'd never heard of him, despite having seen Hot Fuzz and The World's End.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Random belated movie thoughts:

Power Rangers actually had some really good stuff, and some stuff that was...not. And Elizabeth Banks either having a really good time or paying off some student loans.

Wonder Woman: Enjoyed it. Would have enjoyed it more, probably, if I hadn't been spoiled by Tumblr, but life happened and prevented me from seeing it before now. Gadot and Pine were great.

Baby Driver: Well, that wasn't deep, but it was fun, and did enough unexpected stuff to keep me interested. I felt like the movie really kicked into gear (ha ha ha) about twenty minutes too late.
