"If there are real things that stand by people's beds, how big a coincidence would it be for one to show up right after you watched a movie about things that stand by people's beds?"

Cheers for that, chris!
Edgar Wright spoke at Awesome Con. I was too busy working, but the attendees said very complimentary things about him. I'm embarrassed to say, I'd never heard of him, despite having seen Hot Fuzz and The World's End.
Random belated movie thoughts:
Power Rangers actually had some really good stuff, and some stuff that was...not. And Elizabeth Banks either having a really good time or paying off some student loans.
Wonder Woman: Enjoyed it. Would have enjoyed it more, probably, if I hadn't been spoiled by Tumblr, but life happened and prevented me from seeing it before now. Gadot and Pine were great.
Baby Driver: Well, that wasn't deep, but it was fun, and did enough unexpected stuff to keep me interested. I felt like the movie really kicked into gear (ha ha ha) about twenty minutes too late.
Saw The Big Sick last night and loved it! So sweet, so funny. Who knew Ray Romano was so great? (Not that everyone wasn't great.)
My mother also tried to see it, but it was sold out by the time they got there, so they ended up seeing Wonder Woman. She loved it! Her friend not so much, but she is Not a super hero movie person.

Someone on FB commented that it was a Hollywood musical disguised as a heist movie, which makes me think more fondly of it in retrospect.
HE'S NOT DEAD HE JUST GOT BLASTED OUT OF ORBIT.
Finally saw Spider-Man! God, flashbacks to high school, gah.
The credits scenes were great, and
Chris Evans looked like he was having a great deal of trouble not laughing, and I'm not sure if that was intentional or not.
What a great way of showing the trials of a baby superhero. And nice tie-in with
Winter Soldier.
But I'm a shallow Tony Stark fan and
Tony and Pepper are still together!!!! And that was surely Dummy picking up things he shouldn't!
And
hijacking a plane of Stark goodies makes a great deal of sense.
Oh, the bored teachers.
Saw
Colossal,
as it just came out on iTunes. I meant to catch it in a theater but missed it. Anyway, I loved it. It's a comedy that's not
really
about a giant monster trashing Seoul, Korea, although that happens. It's more about alcoholism,
toxic masculinity, and male entitlement.
Very original and fun.
I really wanted to see that! Thanks for the rec, tommy.
