Makes me wonder if there is any Komal/Preeti at AO3...

Buffista Movies Across the 8th Dimension!
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Woo hoo Ethan! That is a career pinnacle of somesort.
I heard an interview of Kumail Nanjiani on the Bon Appetit foodcast and now I want to see The Big Sick.
The ads for that are looking interesting to me, and I'm not normally that big a fan of rom-coms.
Just saw The Big Sick and it was wonderful. Just lovely and smart and warm-hearted.
Note to self: Just because you watched It Follows does not mean that something is following you up the stairs.
I have to argue against myself that way all the time: "If there are real things that stand by people's beds, how big a coincidence would it be for one to show up right after you watched a movie about things that stand by people's beds?"
We're watching Annie on Netflix, and I can add this to the list of movies with stuff that went over my head as a child. The random Orientalism, oh my god. There's an Indian character played by a black man who can do magic. WHY, ANNIE, WHY?
So I just got back from Power Rangers at the dollar cinema and....I'm confused. That was a fun action movie with good pacing, some characters I liked spending time with, and some teen drama that never made me cringe. Why was everyone so down on this movie?
(I should specify - not everyone here, just the reaction in general)
The preview for Power Rangers made me want to see it, but I never got around to it. Maybe I'll try to catch it.
I was randomly channel-surfing and came across the final few scenes of Deathly Hallows part 1 on Freeform. Annnnd Dobby's dead and now I'm bawling. Goddammit.
