During Hidden Figures, I had to keep reminding myself that JOHN GLENN WOULD BE OKAY BECAUSE HE JUST DIED LAST MONTH.
Right there with you. Even knowing full well that everything would turn out all right (spoilers!), the anticipation in those scenes still had me tearing up knapkins in my hands.
It did occur to me upon leaving the film that prior to seeing it I couldn't have actually named any of the white men involved in the space program back then other than the astronauts themselves, so maybe my outrage over not having heard the stories of Johnson, Vaughan, and Jackson earlier was a bit premature.
Saw La La Land last night and Lion today. I liked Lion more.
La La Land was fine, enjoyable, but that was it, not much to talk about except the way it looked.
I haven't seen La La Land, and I think it might be designed for me. However, I think I might be annoyed if it got an Oscar nom and Moulin Rouge didn't-- because man, Moulin Rouge was a well-crafted, beautiful thing.
They remade King Kong? I'd probably know this if I watched more TV with regular commercials.
It's called Kong Skull Island, and Samuel L. Jackson is in it.
Well, of COURSE he is. Who else? Anyone of note? Hiddleston, maybe?

I've seen previews and it seems like Kong one part of the story, not the whole story. Something about other beasts.
Anyone of note? Hiddleston, maybe?
No one they made a point of showing.
Of course Hiddleston's in it. It fulfills the "Hiddleston or Cumberbatch" clause that movies have apparently adopted.
