GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

FYI: Amazon has the Blu-ray version of the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition trilogy on sale for $25 today.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

FYI, Science Friday today has an interview all about the scientific basis for the creature in Nope. Very interesting!

I finally made it to the theater to see Three Thousand Years of Longing yesterday. It's the most visually sumptuous movie I've seen all year, and the dialogue between Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba is a delight. The narrative kind of goes flat/less profound toward the end, but given the previous two points I didn't really mind that much.

Ooh, I've thinking I might sneak off to a matinee of that.

Tonight I'm going to see the Bowie doc in IMAX. His music is going to sound so good on that big sound system.

I'm pretty excited about Woman King: the PCHH gang really really loved it.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

We are doing that this afternoon! I can't wait!

I will forewarn you that it wasn't what I had expected. With all the visuals and spectacle it's a really close examination of Bowie's own creative process and path, through his own many interviews. So it doesn't really talk about his many creative alliances at all (except Eno). So Marc Bolan, Carlos Alomar, Iggy Pop, Angie Bowie, Tony Visconti (who is the music supervisor) don't even get mentioned.

It's not a standard biopic at all. Which is good! But if you know the arc of his narrative it was a little odd the way it dealt with his massive cocaine addiction in LA and move to Berlin (which they sort of evoke through a chaotic sound collage?) or his series of heart attacks sidelined him for almost a decade. That kind of thing.

It's not any kind of biopic, it's a 2+ hour music video with some narration edited in in vaguely chronological order. Which I honestly loved - Bowie's music and stage presence are very well suited to 2 hours of No Plot Just Vibes in IMAX.

Bros was funny and kind of sweet, but involved way too many hectoring gay history lectures and rants about, well, everything from Billy Eichner's character. He really should have taken some marginalized people's mantra of "it's not my responsibility to educate you" to heart, it might have driven smaller crowds away.

Ah well, I can at least hope its marketing push brings Luke MacFarlane to the attention of casting agents who should have been sending him scripts for the past decade.

And I did win the game of subconscious roulette, dreaming last night about dating Luke rather than Billy shudder.

rants about, well, everything from Billy Eichner's character

I mean, "rants about everything" is kind of his entire brand, so that isn't surprising.
